  1. 1. Structure-Property Relationships of Surfactants at Interfaces and Polyelectrolyte-Surfactant Aggregates

    Författare :Mikael Kjellin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :nonionic surfactant; sugar surfactant; poly ethylene oxide ; amide; ester; polyelectrolyte; SDS; hydrophobic surface; glass surface; mica; adsorption; aggregation; micelle size; surface forces; wetting; dynamic surface tension; NMR; TRFQ; SANS; SAXS; ;

    Sammanfattning : The first part of this thesis is concerned with thestructure-property relationships in nonionic surfactantsystems. The main aim was to investigate how the surfactantstructure influences the adsorption at interfaces andinteractions between surfactant coated interfaces. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads : Methods Development and Efficiency Studies

    Författare :Karin Edvardsson; Björn Birgisson; Andrew Dawson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Gravel road; dust; particulate matter; PM10; horizontal dust diffusion; deteriorations; maintenance; dust control; dust suppressants; efficiency; application rate; leaching; residual concentration; seasonal variations; salt solution; solid salt; calcium chloride; magnesium chloride; lignosulphonate; polysaccharide sugar ; bitumen emulsion; rape oil; starch; surfactant; mesa; clay; fine material content;

    Sammanfattning : Approximately 75 percent (300 000 km) of the total Swedish road network and 20 percent(20 000 km) of the national road network consists of gravel roads. One of the most significantproblems associated with gravel roads is traffic-generated dust emission, which contributes tothe deterioration of the road surface and acts as a major source of particulate matter releasedinto the atmosphere, thereby involving public economics, road safety, human health, andenvironmental quality. 3. 3. Evaluation of Dust Suppressants for Gravel Roads: Methods Development and Efficiency Studies

    Författare :Karin Oscarsson; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gravel road; dust; particulate matter; PM10; horizontal dust diffusion; deteriorations; maintenance; dust control; dust suppressants; efficiency; application rate; leaching; residual concentration; seasonal variations; salt solution; solid salt; calcium chloride; magnesium chloride; lignosulphonate; polysaccharide sugar ; bitumen emulsion; rape oil; starch; surfactant; mesa; clay; fine material content.; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Application of the proper dust suppressant to a gravel road ensures road safety and riding comfort as well as creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents in buildings adjacent to the road. It also reduces the need and cost for vehicle repair, road maintenance activities, and aggregate supplementation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Synthesis of Polyhydroxylated Surfactants : Comparison of Surfactant Stereoisomers and Investigation of Haemolytic Activity

    Författare :Kristina Neimert-Andersson; Peter Somfai; Krister Holmberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polyhydroxy surfactants; Sugar surfactants; Dihydroxylation; Metathesis; Langmuir monolayers; Chiral discrimination; Haemolysis; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : I den här avhandlingen har vi studerat hur man kan göra nya tensider. En tensid är en speciell molekyl som har förmågan att lösa sig i både vatten och olja. Man kan göra följande experiment hemma: Fyll en glasburk till hälften med vatten och tillsätt en droppe matolja. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Water-in-diesel emulsion and microemulsion fuels -The effect of water on emission levels

    Författare :Anna Lif; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Combustion; Diesel; Soot; NMR; Microemulsion; PM; Emulsion; Surfactant; NOx; Diffusometry; Alternative fuels; Emission;

    Sammanfattning : Water-in-diesel emulsions are known as environmentally favourable alternatives to conventional diesel fuel. Introducing water into the combustion results in reduced emissions of the health hazardous components nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM). The concept of using emulsions is advantageous as it is easy to replace regular diesel. LÄS MER
