6. Thermal detector with integrated absorber structure for mid-IR gas detection
Sammanfattning : Measurement of the concentration of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide(CO 2 ) and methane (CH 4 ), in the atmosphere has received significant attention in the last few decades. This work focusses on the development of high-performance thermopile detectors for use with the non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) measurements of such gases. LÄS MER
7. A Stacked Prism Lens Concept for Next-Generation Hard X-Ray Telescopes
Sammanfattning : Over the past half century, the focusing X-ray telescope has played a very prominent role in X-ray astronomy at the frontier of fundamental physics. The finer angular resolution and increased effective area have enabled more and more exciting discoveries and detailed studies of the high-energy universe, including the cosmic X-ray background (CXB) radiation, black holes in active galactic nuclei (AGN), galaxy clusters, supernova remnants, and so on. 8. Open-Framework Germanates : Crystallography, structures and cluster building units
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focussing on the crystallographic challenges and what knowledge we can gain from studying the different open-framework germanates. Five new open-framework germanates have been synthesized and the structures have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. LÄS MER
9. Development of a polymer based neural probe - How to record intracortical neural activity while minimizing the tissue response
Sammanfattning : Intracortical neural probes have in the last couple of years been developed from stiff single probes to stiff multi-electrode neural probes to flexible multi-electrode neural probes. One reason for the change in design is that more than one recording/stimulation electrode, as in the case with a single wire, is needed for more advanced studies. LÄS MER
10. Direct writing with an MeV proton beam: Development and Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents work aimed at the development and application of a new lithography system for direct material patterning with the MeV proton beam at the Lund Nuclear Microprobe (NMP) facility. MeV proton beams are advantageous for use as a patterning tool due to their deep and well defined penetration through matter and their highly local energy deposition. LÄS MER
