  1. 1. Aesthetics of being together

    Författare :Stoffel Kuenen; Erik Stolterman; Johan Redström; Dag Svanæs; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; design; interaction design; design theory; aesthetics; aesthetics of being together; aesthetics of interaction; design practices; design research practice; research through design; practice based research; constructive design research; social media; technological mediation; social platforms; digital interactions; social interaction; group interaction; social dynamics; perceptual crossing; intersubjectivity; Aesthetics; estetik; design; design;

    Sammanfattning : Design deals with matters of aesthetics. Historically, aesthetics in industrial design refers to the designed artifact: aesthetics of objects. When designed artifacts include digital technologies, aesthetics in design refers to what happens between people and artifacts as well: aesthetics of interaction. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Structural studies of the surface adhesin SspB from Streptococcus gordonii

    Författare :Nina Forsgren; Karina Persson; Inger Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Streptococcus gordonii; X-ray crystallography; surface adhesin; dental plaque; structural biology; Structural biology; Strukturbiologi; ODONTOLOGY; ODONTOLOGI; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Surface proteins on microorganisms that build up the oral biofilm are key players in the formation of the biofilm. Antigen I/II proteins are surface adhesins found on virtually all oral streptococci and share a conserved multi-domain architecture. These adhesins bind surface components on other bacteria and on host cells. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Expression in Live Coding: Gestural Interaction for Machine Musicianship

    Författare :Georgios Diapoulis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; music perception; live programming; liveness; music interaction; live coding; music information retrieval; gestural control; musical interfaces; expressive interaction; music performance;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is centered on the performance practice of musical live coding, which can be described as on-the-fly decision-making for computer music performance and blurs the lines between programming languages and computer interfaces. I specifically focus on live coding as a human activity based on serial skilled actions, and I discuss how we can interact gesturally with interfaces that are modified dynamically. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Sustainability-, Buildability- and Performance-driven Structural Design

    Författare :Alexandre Mathern; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sustainability; structural engineering; civil engineering; design method; finite element analysis; concrete structures; material developments; buildability; performance; structural developments; requirements; construction technology; integrated design; bridges; constructability;

    Sammanfattning : The construction, maintenance and operation of infrastructure networks represent substantial impacts, both positive and negative, in all three dimensions of sustainability: economic, social and environmental. The greatest possibility to reduce the negative impacts and increase the positive ones is at the early design stage of construction projects. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Visualizing structural dynamics: from small molecules to membrane proteins

    Författare :Magnus Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; membrane protein; bacteriorhodopsin; proteorhodopsin; halorhodopsin; structural dynamics; time-resolved X-ray scattering;

    Sammanfattning : To fully understand the mechanism of a chemical reaction, it is important to characterize the rapid structural dynamics of transient chemical species as the reaction propagates. Since chemical processes are heavily influenced by the solvent in which they occur, the interaction with the surrounding solution also needs to be elucidated. LÄS MER
