2. Med kärret som källa : om begreppen offer och ritual inom arkeologin
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with questions concerning theoretical perspectives and archaeological interpretation. It is also a thesis about prehistoric wetland depositions, as they illustrate the discussion. The starting point of the study is the use of the concept of sacrifice (or offering) in Scandinavian archaeology. LÄS MER
3. A multiscale approach for predicting freeze-thaw damage in asphalt mixtures
Sammanfattning : Cold and wet climates are a known threat to asphalt pavements, causing both an embrittlement of the material, making it more prone to failure, and increasing the risk of damage due to the presence of moisture in the material and freeze-thaw cycles causing expansion and contraction of the air voids as the moisture inside them freezes and thaws. This damage evolution can lead to an overall decrease of material properties and ultimately showcase itself as raveling, pot holes, and cracks. LÄS MER
4. Species interactions in streams - effects of predation, competition and ecosystem properties
Sammanfattning : Stream ecosystems are dynamic and they have an inherent environmental variability. Organisms that live in streams are adapted to the continuously changing environment and the presence or absence of species are determined by their environmental requirements, while abundance is most often affected by interactions, such as competition and predation, with other species that are found in the same habitat. 5. Formation of Pebble-Pile Planetesimals and the Interior Structure of Comets
Sammanfattning : Planets form in protoplanetary discs of gas, dust and ice around newborn stars. In the Solar System, not only planets are found as a result from the time of planet formation, but also remnant planetesimals in the form of asteroids, Kuiper belt objects and comets. Recent observations, e.g. LÄS MER
