  1. 1. Spleno-pancreatic development assessed by 3D molecular imaging

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå centrum för molekylär medicin (UCMM)

    Författare :Amir Asayesh; Umeå universitet.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :Cell biology; Spleen; Pancreas; Imaging; Development; Cellbiologi; miljömedicinsk utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The development of different organs and tissues along the gastrointestinal tract, including the pancreas, depends on signalling between the endoderm and the adjacent mesenchyme. The Nkx gene Bapx1 is involved in spatial control of organ-positioning in the spleno-pancreatic region, and deficiency in this gene results in unacceptable proximity of the splenic mesenchyme to the pancreas. 2. 2. Imaging the pancreas new aspects on lobular development and adult constitution

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Andreas Hörnblad; Umeå universitet.; [2011]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; ß-cell mass; tertiary lymphoid organs; biomedical imaging; optical projection tomography; morphogenesis; pancreas development; gastric lobe; spleen development.; medicinsk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk utvecklings- och neurobiologi; Developmental Neurosciences; molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ; Molecular Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The mouse pancreas is a mixed exocrine and endocrine glandconsisting of three lobular compartments: the splenic, duodenal and gastric lobes. During embryogenesis, the pancreas forms from two progenitor populations located on the dorsal and ventral side of the primitive gut tube. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Immunomodulatory properties of steroid hormones

    Detta är en avhandling från Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Författare :Maria Taube; Göteborgs universitet.; University of Gothenburg.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN; MEDICINE; Endokrinologi; Endocrinology; Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar; Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases; DTH; oestradiol; corticosteroids; T cells; SCID mice; adoptive transfer; thymus; spleen.;

    Sammanfattning : Recent epidemiological, clinical and experimental evidence have suggested that steroid hormones play an important role in immune responses and in immune-mediated diseases. Many autoimmune diseases are treated with corticosteroids. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cardiovascular and respiratory effects of apnea in humans

    Detta är en avhandling från Animal Physiology

    Författare :Johan Andersson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2001]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; breath-hold diving; lung volume; Apnea; breath-holding; face immersion; cold stimulation; diving response; diving reflex; circulation; bradycardia; vasoconstriction; arterial blood pressure; cardiac output; spleen; respiration; splenic contraction; alveol; Physiology; Fysiologi; Respiratory system; Andningsorganen; Animal physiology; Djurfysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with cardiovascular and respiratory effects of apneas in humans. During apnea (breath-holding), a number of interacting cardiovascular reflexes are initiated, and together these reflexes are called the “diving response”. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Molecular and cellular mechanisms in the development of IDDM in non-obese diabetic mice

    Detta är en avhandling från Stockholm : Stockholm University

    Författare :Cecilia Rietz; Stockholms universitet.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Immunology; immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is a disease caused by autoimmune destruction of the insulin producing b cells in the pancreas. The leukocytic infiltration into the b cell islets preceding disease is called insulitis. LÄS MER
