    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to illuminate meanings of the relation between human beings, technology and care, as narrated by critical care nurses and people in need of home mechanical ventilation (HMV). The data are based on narrative research interviews with six intensive care nurses (I), 13 people who were about to start HMV (II), these 13 people were interviewed for a second time six to eight months after HMV had started (III), and nine persons with more than two years HMV experience (IV).     Sammanfattning : This dissertation highlights the continuity of murukak katavul valipatu, “the worship of god Murukan”, with its distinct characteristics, in the changing history of the island known as Ilam/Ilankai/Lanka/Ceylon/Sri Lanka. The institution of the worship of god Murukan in Tamil civilization is crucial to a historical understanding of the problems of the Tamil people in Malaiyakam where they have now lived since about 1800 (two centuries).     Sammanfattning : This study addresses the presence of religious difference in the Muslim-dominated cultural setting of Zanzibar, a context in which, in 2012, Christian minorities became targets in violent events directed against representations of the politically contested Union with Mainland Tanzania. As the attacked churches are primarily attended by people of non-island origins and the incidents were blamed on local Muslim-revival groups, the events posed questions about the political significance produced at the intersection of religious belonging, ethnonational origins, and Union politics.     Sammanfattning : King Ngungunyana was the lord of the mighty Gaza Empire, covering most of the interior Mozambique south of the Zambezi and parts of present Zimbabwe, when the Portuguese in 1885 were requested by the Berlin Congress to accelerate their colonization.
