1. SOLIDS MIXING IN BUBBLING FLUIDIZED BEDS
Sammanfattning : For solid fuels, thermochemical conversion processes such as combustion and gasification are especially suitable to be carried out in fluidized bed units because of the relatively high mixing rates, fuel flexibility and the possibility to use active bed material to enhance process efficiency. Mixing of fuel is important to ensure complete conversion and reduced emissions of unburnt material. LÄS MER
2. Vibrations in solids : From first principles lattice dynamics to high temperature phase stability
Sammanfattning : In this thesis I introduce a new method for calculating the temperature dependent vibrational contribution to the free energy of a substitutionally disordered alloy that accounts for anharmonicity at high temperatures. This method exploits the underlying crystal symmetries in an alloy to make the calculations tractable. LÄS MER
3. Investigation of Solids Distribution and External Solids Flux in a Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler
Sammanfattning : This work concentrates on two issues regarding combustion in circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers. Firstly, the impact of co-combustion of coal with sewage sludge on ash flows, bed material and gas concentrations in a CFB boiler is studied. LÄS MER
4. Towards a multiconfigurational description of the electronic structure in solids
Sammanfattning : Materials of ionic crystals are ubiquitous in industrial chemistry. For example, materials such as cerium dioixde (CeO2) are used in both self-cleaning ovens and to clean exhaust fumes from cars.Other materials, such as titanium dioixde (TiO2) has been used in the solar-cell industry.So-called garnets are used in several lasers. 5. Lateral mixing of solids in bubbling fluidized beds – experimental quantification
Sammanfattning : For solid fuels, thermochemical conversion processes such as combustion and gasification are especially suitable to be carried out in fluidized bed units because of the relatively high mixing rates, fuel flexibility and the possibility to use active bed material to enhance process efficiency. Fuels such as biomass and waste, which are commonly used in fluidized beds, are characterized by volatile contents much higher than what is found in fossil fuels such as coal. LÄS MER
