1. Solid-state nanopores : fabrication and applications
Sammanfattning : Nanopores are of great interest in study of DNA sequencing, protein profiling and power generation. Among them, solid-state nanopores show obvious advantages over their biological counterparts in terms of high chemical stability and reusability as well as compatibility with the existing CMOS fabrication techniques. 2. Solid-State Nanopores for Sensing : From Theory to Applications
Sammanfattning : Nanopore based sensing technology has been widely studied for a broad range of applications including DNA sequencing, protein profiling, metabolite molecules, and ions detection. The nanopore technology offers an unprecedented technological solution to meeting the demands of precision medicine on rapid, in-field, and low-cost biomolecule analysis. LÄS MER
3. Compact diode-pumped solid-state lasers
Sammanfattning : Compact diode-pumped solid-state lasers (DPSSL) arecontinuously replacing traditional gas lasers as well asenabling completely new technology. However, compact and costefficient designs are required to satisfy end-user demands. Theaim of this thesis was therefore to investigate novel laserdesigns for given applications considering these demands. LÄS MER
4. Solid state characterisation and compaction behaviour of pharmaceutical materials
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, factors important in tableting operations and for tablet properties have been studied and characterised by different spectroscopic techniques as well as by some more conventionally used particle characterisation techniques. The spectroscopic techniques solid-state NMR, FT-IR and NIR spectroscopy, proved to be valuable tools in the estimation of particle and tablet properties, offering both specificity and sensitivity in the measurements. 5. Solid-State NMR Characterization of Lipid Membranes
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the study of lipid bilayer systems by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance. Two-dimensional 1H-13C separated local field experiments under magic-angle spinning were employed to investigate structural and dynamical modifications of cell membranes, resulting from the addition of compounds with some biological relevance.
