  1. 1. Landscape partitioning and burial processes of soil organic carbon in contrasting areas of continuous permafrost

    Författare :Juri Palmtag; Peter Kuhry; Gustaf Hugelius; Stephan Gruber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; soil organic carbon; total nitrogen; permafrost; cryoturbation; geomorphology; land cover classification; slope processes; texture; upscaling; carbon nitrogen ratio; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Recent studies have shown that permafrost soils in the northern circumpolar region store almost twice as much carbon as the atmosphere. Since soil organic carbon (SOC) pools have large regional and landscape-level variability, detailed SOC inventories from across the northern permafrost region are needed to assess potential remobilization of SOC with permafrost degradation and to quantify the permafrost carbon-climate feedback on global warming. 2. 2. On modelling of slope stability in sensitive clay

    Författare :Carolina Sellin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; constitutive modelling; mobilisation of shear strength; destructuration; slope stability; anisotropy; sensitive clay; rate dependence;

    Sammanfattning : The stability of natural slopes is a global problem, with the number of landslides and the associated socioeconomic losses increasing, as a result of the global trend of urbanisation, deforestation and changed weather patterns. The available methods for identifying potential failure modes and assessing the stability, however, overly simplify the modelled soil behaviour within a slope, which might lead to unnecessary mitigation measures or non-conservative results. Sammanfattning : High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is a widely used tech-nique both for detecting and purifying substances in academy and in the industry. In order to facilitate the use of, and knowledge in HPLC, character-ization of stationary phases is of utmost importance. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hydrological processes in firn on Storglaciären, Sweden

    Författare :Thomas Schneider; Andrew G. Fountain; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geography; Physical Geography; geografi med naturgeografisk inriktning;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding hydrological processes in temperate glaciers is important for both scientific and practical issues. Modelling glacier response to climatic change and the use of water from glaciers for electric power generation are some topics that require detailed information on water storage and drainage in glaciers. 5. 5. Vertical III-V Nanowire Transistors for Low-Power Electronics

    Författare :Abinaya Krishnaraja; Nanoelektronik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor MOSFET ; Steep slope; Tunnel Field-Effect Transistors; Vertical nanowire; III-V materials; semiconducting III-V; InAs; GaSb; InGaAsSb; PMOS; Transistor; Electronics;

    Sammanfattning : Power dissipation has been the major challenge in the downscaling of transistor technology. Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors (MOSFETs) have struggled to keep a low power consumption while still maintaining a high performance due to the low carrier mobilities of Si but also due to their inherent minimum inverse subthreshold slope (S ≥ 60 mV/dec) which is limited by thermionic emission.
