1. A Mathematical and Experimental Study of Inclusion Behaviour at a Steel-Slag Interface
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis work is to increase the knowledge of inclusion behavior at the steel-slag interface by mathematical modeling and in-situ Confocal Scanning Laser Microscope experiments. Mathematical models based on the equation of motion predicting liquid and solid inclusion behavior was first investigated. LÄS MER
2. Influence of alumina on the zinc slag fuming processes : an experimental study on physical properties and leaching behaviour of the generated fayalite-type slag
Sammanfattning : Recycling of secondary raw materials by non-ferrous metal producers is steadily increasing. These materials inevitably introduce various impurities to the production furnaces, which can change the chemical composition, and thereafter, the physical and chemical properties of the products and by-products of the operation. 3. Aspects of Ash Transformations in Pressurised Entrained-Flow Gasification of Woody Biomass : Pilot-scale studies
Sammanfattning : Pressurised entrained-flow gasification (PEFG) of woody biomass has the potential to produce high purity syngas for the production of vital chemicals, e.g., biofuels. However, ash-related issues such as reactor blockages and refractory corrosion need to be addressed before this potential can be realised from a technical perspective. LÄS MER
4. Interfacial Phenomena in Two-Phase systems: Emulsions and slag Foaming
Sammanfattning : In the present work studies were performed to provide understanding for further model development of the two-phase phenomena, film formation from o/w emulsions and slag foaming. The drying of o/w emulsions of different oil viscosities on hydrophobic and hydrophilic substrates was studied. 5. Cyclic behaviour of carburized steel
Sammanfattning : The fatigue properties of carburized low alloyed steel have been investigated. The tests in axial fatigue showed that surface carbon below 0.8% and low amounts of retained austenite are advantageous. In bending fatigue the effects of tempering and of surface condition were studied. LÄS MER
