  1. 1. Exploring human variations by droplet barcoding

    Författare :Pontus Höjer; Afshin Ahmadian; Pelin Sahlén; Lars Feuk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; droplets; linked-read sequencing; DNA barcoding; proteomics; genomics; single cell; single extracellular vesicle; single exosome; pipelines; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Biological variations are being explored at ever-increasing rates through the rapid advancement of analytical techniques. Techniques like massively parallel sequencing empower scientists to accurately differentiate individuals’ genetic compositions, cellular functionalities, and healthy tissue from diseased. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genome Divergence in Progress - a population genetic analysis of the allopolyploid Arabidopsis suecica and its maternal parent A. thaliana

    Författare :Mattias Jakobsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; sequence polymorphism; microsatellites; population structure; polyploidy; single origin; Arabidopsis thaliana; Arabidopsis suecica; genome evolution; evolutionary history; Plant genetics; Växtgenetik;

    Sammanfattning : The evolutionary history of the allotetraploid Arabidopsis suecica and its maternal parent Arabidopsis thaliana is analyzed in the thesis in terms of genetic variation in the natural populations of the two species. The earliest phase of the speciation event in which the genomes of A. thaliana and A. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The cell cycle of the hyperthermophilic archaeal genus Sulfolobus

    Författare :Karin Hjort; Patrick Dennis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; Cell cycle; Sulfolobus; Archaea; Origin; Replication; SIRV2; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases; Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The third domain of life, Archaea is one of the three main evolutionary lineages together with the Bacteria and the Eukarya domains. The archaea are, despite their prokaryotic cell organisation, more closely related to eukaryotes than to bacteria in terms of the informational pathways (DNA replication, transcription and translation). 4. 4. The Origin of Tooth Replacement : Three-dimensional Synchrotron Histology Visualizes the Dental Development of Silurian Stem Osteichthyans

    Författare :Donglei Chen; Per Ahlberg; Zerina Johanson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanisms of tooth replacement distribute incongruently among extant gnathostomes (jawed vertebrates): a permanent tooth-generating dental lamina exists in chondrichthyans (cartilaginous fish) and tetrapods but not teleosts, whereas tooth shedding by basal hard tissue resorption occurs in tetrapods and teleosts but not chondrichthyans. Theories about the evolution of tooth development have been biased towards the chondrichthyan conveyor-belt replacement, since there has been no fossil evidence for the origin of osteichthyan (bony fish and tetrapods) tooth replacement until now. 5. 5. Single-crystal Mo/V superlattices : growth, structure, and hydrogen uptake

    Författare :Jens Birch; Jan-Erik Sundgren; Bruce M Clemens; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Fundamental studies concerning the growth, structural characterization and hydrogen uptake of single-crystal (00 l )-oriented Mo/V superlattices have been performed. The superlattices were grown by dual-target magnetron sputtering in pure Ar-atmosphere < 6·10-3 Torr on (001)-oriented MgO substrates. LÄS MER
