1. Human muscle spindles : complex morphology and structural organisation
Sammanfattning : Muscle spindles are skeletal muscle mechanoreceptors that mediate the stretch reflex and provide axial and limb position information to the central nervous system. They have been proposed to play a major role in the pathophysiology of muscle pain. LÄS MER
2. A Signal Processing Approach to Practical Neurophysiology : A Search for Improved Methods in Clinical Routine and Research
Sammanfattning : Signal processing within the neurophysiological field is challenging and requires short processing time and reliable results. In this thesis, three main problems are considered.First, a modified line source model for simulation of muscle action potentials (APs) is presented. LÄS MER
3. Post activation potentiation : Modulating factors and mechanisms for muscle performance
Sammanfattning : Introduction: Acute enhancements of muscle contractile properties and performance subsequent to a maximal or near maximal conditioning contraction are often termed post activation potentiation (PAP). Although still controversial, PAP is commonly linked to enhancements in the myosin regulatory light chain phosphorylation, leading to improvements in the excitation–contraction coupling. LÄS MER
4. A novel single skeletal muscle cell in vitro motility assay : effects of aging and non-enzymatic glycosylation on myosin function
Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to develop a single skeletal muscle fiber in vitro motility assay, and to employ the assay in order to study the effects of aging and non-enzymatic glycosylation on the mechanical properties of the motor protein myosin in an attempt to improve our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the aging-related impairment in regulation of muscle function. Myosin was extracted from a millimeter short single muscle fiber segment directly onto a nitrocellulosecoated coverslip for subsequent analyses of the functional properties of the motor protein. 5. MuSK Antibody(+) Versus AChR Antibody(+) Myasthenia Gravis : Clinical, Neurophysiological and Morphological Aspects
Sammanfattning : Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that causes fluctuating muscle weakness. MG may be divided into an ocular form and a generalized form based on the involved muscles. Treatment differs between these different MG forms. LÄS MER
