  1. 1. Systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis : analyses of candidate genes involved in immune functions, for susceptibility and severity

    Författare :Martin Johansson; Solbritt Rantapää Dahlqvist; Ingrid Lundberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SLE; RA; oestrogen; renal disorder; ESR1; PDCD1; PTPN22; association; severity; Rheumatology; Reumatologi; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune rheumatic disease with systemic manifestations characterized by auto-antibodies directed against different parts of the cell nucleus including DNA, histones and ribosomes. The systemic inflammation can cause damage to multiple organs, e.g., kidneys, skin, heart, lungs and the nervous system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Extraction of polymeric rapeseed straw hemicelluloses for renewable films

    Författare :Antonia Svärd; Ulrica Edlund; Elisabet Sjöholm; Emma Strömberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; rapeseed straw canola straw; hemicellulose; xylan; mannan; extraction; characterization; severity factor; hemicellulose film; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Polymeric hemicelluloses with high molecular weight were extracted from rapeseed straw with a straight forward hydrothermal extraction method, evaluated and refined by statistical factorial screening design and ‘severity factor’ analysis. The influence of the extraction conditions, time, temperature and pH of the extraction liquid, on the composition, molecular weight, yield and properties was unveiled. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The long-term effects of obstetrical anal sphincter injury on pelvic floor function

    Författare :Ida E K Nilsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anal incontinence; Caesarean section; Faecal incontinence; Pelvic organ prolapse; Severity; Urinary incontinence; Vaginal delivery;

    Sammanfattning : Background: As women live longer, the long-term effects of childbirth may negatively affect their quality of life and professional careers. Aim: This thesis investigates the long-term effects of vacuum extraction (VE) and one and two obstetrical anal sphincter injuries (OASIs). LÄS MER

  4. 4. HEMOPHILIA A AND B WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO INHIBITOR DEVELOPMENT AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF FACTORS VIII AND IX

    Författare :Karin Knobe; Enheten för pediatrisk hematologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Haematology; inhibitors; mutations; Factor IX; Factor VIII; coagulation; hemophilia A and B; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Sammanfattning : The general objective of the research underlying this dissertation was to conduct clinical and basic scientific studies to further elucidate the hemophilia and the coagulation process, with the goal of improving the care of families with these disorders. More specific aims were to evaluate epidemiological, genetic, clinical, and biochemical aspects of the development of inhibitors (antibodies) against FVIII and FIX in Swedish patients with hemophilia A and B (papers I, II, and III). 5. 5. Long-term consequences of vaginal delivery on the pelvic floor. A comparison with caesarean section in one-para women

    Författare :Maria Gyhagen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; urinary incontinence; pelvic organ prolapse; fecal incontinence; vaginal delivery; caesarean section; BMI; epidemiology; subtypes; bothersome; severity; anal incontinence; episiotomy; perineal tear;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Long-term consequences of vaginal delivery on the pelvic floor: A comparison with caesarean section in one-parae women Urinary incontinence (UI), symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse (sPOP), and faecal and anal incontinence (FI and AI) are the three major sequelae of childbirth. It has as yet not been finally settled whether in the long term vaginal delivery (VD) is detrimental to pelvic floor function in comparison to caesarean section (CS). LÄS MER
