  1. 1. Sensory nerve fibres, neuropeptides and cartilage : Experimental studies in the rat

    Författare :Karin Edoff; Anders Bjurholm; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : During development, maintenance and repair after injury, reciprocal interactions occur between the peripheral nervous system and the target tissues. In the Papers presented in this thesis, different aspects of such netvetarget influences between peripheral nerve fibres and skeletal tissues dtuing development and repair have been investigated in the rat. 2. 2. A sensory role for the cruciate ligaments : regulation of joint stability via reflexes onto the γ-muscle-spindle system

    Författare :Per Sjölander; Håkan Johansson; Uwe Windhorst; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Joint afferent; Mechanoreceptor; Cruciate ligament; Fusimotor neuron; reflex; muscle spindle afferent; motor control; cat;

    Sammanfattning : Reflex effects evoked by graded electrical stimulation of the posterior articular nerves (PAN) of the ipsi- and contralateral knee joints were investigated using both micro-electrode recordings from 7 - motoneurones and recordings from single muscle muscle spindle afferents. Spindle afferent responses were also recorded using natural stimulation of different types of receptors, to elucidate if the articular reflexes onto the y -motoneurones were potent enough to significantly alter the muscle spindle afferent activity. 3. 3. Regulation of experimentally induced airway obstruction

    Författare :Eva G. Lindström; Jan Lötvall; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :airway obstruction; antigen; capsaicin; epithelium; inflammatory mediators; sensory neurons; tube preparation; tachykinins; formoterol; histamine; presynaptic inhibition; in vitro; guinea pig; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Asthma is one of the commonest diseases in industrialized countries. The cause and mechanisms of !he disorder are still not fully unden;tood, al!hough it is known that inflammation in !he airways plays an important role. Inflammatory mediators, e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neuropeptide circuitries regulating food and water intake

    Författare :Christian Broberger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :agouti gene-related protein; anorexia mutation; arcuate nucleus; cholecystokinin; cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript; coexistence; confocal microscopy; dorsal root ganglion; feeding; hypocretin; immunohistochemistry; in situ hybridization; melanin-concentrating hormone; nodose ganglion; nucleus tractus solitaxii; orexin; paraventricular nucleus; satiety; sensory neurones; pro-opiomelanocortin; vagus nerve;

    Sammanfattning : An adequate supply of nutrients through food intake is critical for survival, as evidenced by disorders such as obesity and anorexia, which in the long run may be life-threatening. Feeding behaviour is ultimately controlled by interacting neuronal populations in the brain. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Programming and updaing of reaching movements

    Författare :Sergei Perfiliev; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Reaching movements; motor cortex; central command; neuronal recording; trajectory updating; descending pathways; spinal cord lesions;

    Sammanfattning : Neuronal activity in the motor cortex (area 4) was recorded during reaching movements in cats, trained to perform target-reaching in response to a tone burst. Out of 350 task related neurones 12% generated short latency (20?110 ms) sensory responses to the cue triggering the reaching movement. LÄS MER
