11. Low-frequency noise characterization, evaluation and modeling of advanced Si- and SiGe-based CMOS transistors
Sammanfattning : A wide variety of novel complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) devices that are strong contenders for future high-speed and low-noise RF circuits have been evaluated by means of static electrical measurements and low-frequency noise characterizations in this thesis. These novel field-effect transistors (FETs) include (i) compressively strained SiGe channel pMOSFETs, (ii) tensile strained Si nMOSFETs, (iii) MOSFETs with high-k gate dielectrics, (iv) metal gate and (v) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) devices. 12. On Reliability of SiC Power Devices in Power Electronics
Sammanfattning : Silicon Carbide (SiC) is a wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductor materialwhich has several advantages such as higher maximum electric field, lowerON-state resistance, higher switching speeds, and higher maximum allowablejunction operation temperature compared to Silicon (Si). In the 1.2 kV - 1. LÄS MER
13. Band Alignment Between ZnO-Based and Cu(In,Ga)Se2 Thin Films for High Efficiency Solar Cells
Sammanfattning : Thin-film solar cells based on Cu(In,Ga)Se2 contain a thin buffer layer of CdS in their standard configuration. In order to avoid cadmium in the device for environmental reasons, Cd-free alternatives are investigated. LÄS MER
14. GaN-based HEMTs for Cryogenic Low-Noise Applications
Sammanfattning : Radio-astronomy deals with signals and radiations of extremely weak intensity. Also, it requires robust and rugged technologies able to sustain and prevent the Radio Frequency Interferences (RFI). LÄS MER
15. Microwave CMOS LNAs and VCOs - Using Passives On-Chip, Above Chip, and Off-Chip
Sammanfattning : The performance of LNAs and VCOs is of large importance to the complete wireless communications system. To achieve sufficient performance in microwave applications, LNAs and VCOs have therefore up to now mostly been manufactured in advanced and expensive semiconductor technologies. LÄS MER
