  1. 1. Towards semi-automation of forestry cranes : automated trajectory planning and active vibration damping

    Författare :Szabolcs Fodor; Leonid Freidovich; Carlos Vázquez; Anton Shiriaev; Torben Ole Andersen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Forestry; forwarder cranes; semi-automation; slewing actuator; automated trajectory planning; oscillations; inner boom actuator; active vibration damping; frequency estimation; input shaping control technique; H2-optimal control;

    Sammanfattning : Forests represent one of the biggest terrestrial ecosystems of Earth, that can produce important raw renewable materials such as wood with the help of sun, air and water. To efficiently extract these raw materials, the tree harvesting process is highly mechanized in developed countries, meaning that advanced forestry machines are continuously used to fell, to process and to transport the logs and biomass obtained from the forests. Sammanfattning : More and more complex semi-automated systems are being developed, aiding human operators to collect and analyze data and information and even to recommend decisions and act upon these. The goal of such development is often to support the operators make better decisions faster, while at the same time decrease their workload. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Assessment of acetabular cup wear with computed tomography and influence of surface roughness on wear of materials for hip prostheses

    Författare :Anneli Jedenmalm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hip prostheses; Computed Tomography; Surface roughness; UHMWPE; Wear; Coating; γ-irradiation; pin-on-disc; hip simulator; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Over one million hip prostheses are implanted in patients worldwide each year and the need is increasing as the patient group of younger and more active patients is increasing. Many parameters affect the longevity of the implant, where aseptic loosening caused by wear debris is the most common reason for revision. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Eating, chewing and the mind

    Författare :Ioannis Ioakeimidis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The need for detailed description of eating behavior has become relevant by the limited success of simplified models in genetics and neuroscience to explain and predict eating behavior in humans. Failure of cognitive interventions, combined with the success of treatments normalising eating styles in obesity and eating disorders, demonstrates the central role of eating in dealing with these problems. 5. 5. Computed Tomography of Acetabular Cup Wear and Effect of Surface Roughness on Wear and Oxidation of UHMWPE Hip Prostheses

    Författare :Anneli Jedenmalm; Ulf Gedde; André Stark; Karin Jacobson; Nicklas Axén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hip prostheses; Computed Tomography; Surface roughness; UHMWPE; Wear; Coating; Gamma-irradiation; pin-on-disc; hip simulator; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Aseptic loosening is the most common complication in total hip replacement (5- 10% at 10 years follow up). The magnitude of the problem is illustrated by the fact that about one million hip prostheses are implanted worldwide each year. LÄS MER
