6. Inclusion Behaviour under a Swirl Flow in a Continuous Casting Process
Sammanfattning : A swirl flow generated in a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) can effectively improve a flow pattern and heat transfer in a continuous casting process by using the methods of “swirl blade type” and “electromagnetic type”. In order to obtain a further in-depth understanding with respect to the effect of a swirl flow on a continuous casting process, the inclusion behaviour in a SEN and a mold was studied in the present work. 7. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace
Sammanfattning : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). LÄS MER
8. Voltage Transients in the Field Winding of Salient Pole Wound Synchronous Machines : Implications from fast switching power electronics
Sammanfattning : Wound Field Synchronous Generators provide more than 95% of the electricity need worldwide. Their primacy in electricity production is due to ease of voltage regulation, performed by simply adjusting the direct current intensity in their rotor winding. LÄS MER
9. Modeling of losses in power transformers from dc to the low kilohertz range
Sammanfattning : The development of HVDC converters, local generation and tractions systems increases the demand for power converters. While a lot of studies have been conducted on the power electronics, there are still open questions concerning the contained power transformer that operates at a few kilohertz. LÄS MER
10. Resistive Wall Mode Stability and Control in the Reversed Field Pinch
Sammanfattning : Control of MHD instabilities using a conducting wall together with external magnetic fields is an important route to improved performance and reliability in fusion devices. Active control of MHD modes is of interest for both the Advanced Tokamak and the Reversed Field Pinch (RFP) configurations. LÄS MER
