  1. 1. Product innovation in small established enterprises : Managing processes and resource scarcity

    Författare :Lars Löfqvist; Lars Bengtsson; Jenny Janhager-Stier; Matti Kaulio; Helena Forsman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :innovation process; small enterprises; product innovation; resources; resource scarcity; SMEs; bootstrapping; cash flow; commercialization; design process; lead users; motivation; NPD; small companies; small firms; innovation management; Penrose; resource dependence theory;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines product innovation processes in small established enterprises. The research questions are: (1) what motivates small established enterprises to innovate, (2) how do small established enterprises perform product innovation, and (3) how do small established enterprises manage resource scarcity in their product innovation processes? To answer the research questions, a multiple case study approach was chosen with three small established enterprises as cases and different product innovation processes as embedded units of study. 2. 2. The Specter of Scarcity : Experiencing and Coping with Metal Shortages, 1870-2015

    Författare :Hanna Vikström; Per Högselius; Dag Avango; Fjaestad Maja; Ingulstad Mats; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; scarcity; critical metals; Sweden; small countries; strategic metals; metal shortages; history of technology; experiences of scarcity; coping with shortages; technological trends; World War I; resource crisis; construction of resources.; Historiska studier av teknik; vetenskap och miljö; History of Science; Technology and Environment;

    Sammanfattning : In spite of an ever-growing supply of metals, actors have long feared metal shortages. This thesis – departing from an understanding that metals scarcity is not an objective geological fact, but an experience, a fear of a shortage – explores why business and state actors have experienced metals as scarce and how they coped with scarcity from 1870 to 2015. 3. 3. Managing cloud resource scarcity

    Författare :Lars Larsson; Erik Elmroth; Cristian Klein; Philipp Leitner; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cloud computing; edge computing; kubernetes; federation; scheduling; quality elasticity;

    Sammanfattning : According to the Infrastructure-as-a-Service conceptualization of cloud computing, Infrastructure Providers offer utility-like pay-as-you-go access to computing resources (e.g., data processing, networks, and storage) to Service Providers, who use those resources to host applications for the benefit of end users. Författare :Hampus André; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; scarce metals; life cycle assessment; resource-efficiency; electronic products; resource depletion; circular economy; metal resource use;

    Sammanfattning : Natural resources such as ecosystems, land, water and metals underpin the functioning of economies and human well-being, and are becoming increasingly scarce due to growth in population and affluence. Metals are increasingly demanded for their specific properties as modern technology develops. LÄS MER

  5. 5. From resource efficiency to resource conservation : Studies, developments and recommendations for industrial implementation of circular manufacturing systems

    Författare :Michael Lieder; Amir Rashid; Tomohiko Sakao; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Circular economy; Circular manufacturing systems; Resource conservative manufacturing; ResCoM; Agent-based modelling; Multi-method modelling; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Sammanfattning : Manufacturing industry is under permanent pressure to maintain its economic growth and profitability as strong societal backbone. At the same time pressures of waste generation and resource consumption are increasing as result of manufacturing operations. LÄS MER
