1. Properties and analysis of dioxin-like compounds in marine samples from Sweden
Sammanfattning : Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs), and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) have been assigned toxic equivalency factors (TEFs). These compounds are today routinely analysed with sophisticated analytical techniques. LÄS MER
2. Composite Likelihood Estimation for Latent Variable Models with Ordinal and Continuous, or Ranking Variables
Sammanfattning : The estimation of latent variable models with ordinal and continuous, or ranking variables is the research focus of this thesis. The existing estimation methods are discussed and a composite likelihood approach is developed. LÄS MER
3. Studies of the pathogenesis of hemolytic uremic syndrome and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura
Sammanfattning : This study investigated the pathogenesis of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). (1) The relative roles of lipopolysaccharide and Shiga-like toxin-2 were studied in a mouse model of Escherichia coli O157:H7 infection. LÄS MER
4. The complement system in stherosclerosis and arthritis
Sammanfattning : The complement system plays an essential role in the humoral immune response. Activated complement has diverse functions, including the initiation of inflammation, recruitment of leukocytes, clearance of immune complexes, neutralization of pathogens, regulation of antibody responses and disruption of cell membranes.
