11. Linear and Nonlinear Transport in Quantum Nanostructures
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, electron transport in mesoscopic semiconductor nanostructures, in particular so-called electron billiards or quantum dots, is studied. The thesis can be divided into two areas: the linear response regime of transport, and the nonlinear response regime of transport. LÄS MER
12. Carrier dynamics in semiconductor quantum dots
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents results of time-resolved photoluminescence experiments conducted on several different self-assembled InGaAs/GaAs and InAs/GaAs semiconductor quantum dot (QD) structures. Depending on the application in mind, different structural, electronic or optical properties have a different weight of importance. LÄS MER
13. A General Formalism for Continuous Feedback Control in Quantum Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis devolops a general formalism for continuous feedback control in quantum systems. The main result is a quantum Fokker-Planck master equation describing the joint dynamics of a quantum system and a detector with finite bandwidth. For a fast detector, this equation can be reduced to a Markovian master equation for the system dynamics. LÄS MER
14. Spin Current Generation in Magnetic Heterostructures and its Impact on Terahertz Emission : A Spin Dynamics Perspective
Sammanfattning : The transfer of knowledge from one generation to another is key to the intellectualness of mankind. In the present information age, digital technology provides easy access to knowledge and information. LÄS MER
15. Combined Quantum Mechanical and Molecular Dynamics study of paramagnetic complexes : Towards an understanding of electronic spin relaxation
Sammanfattning : The prime objectives of contrast agents in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is to accelerate the relaxation rate of the solvent water protons in the surrounding tissue. Paramagnetic relaxation originates from dipole-dipole interactions between the nuclear spins and the fluctuating magnetic field induced by unpaired electrons. LÄS MER
