  1. 1. Open Quantum Systems : Effects in Interferometry, Quantum Computation, and Adiabatic Evolution

    Författare :Johan Åberg; Erik Sjöqvist; Sten Lunell; Vlatko Vedral; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Open Systems; Completely Positive Maps; Channels; Decoherence; Quantum Information; Quantum Computing; Adiabatic Approximation; Quantum Search; Time-Complexity; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of open system evolution on single particle interferometry, quantum computation, and the adiabatic approximation are investigated.Single particle interferometry: Three concepts concerning completely positive maps (CPMs) and trace preserving CPMs (channels), named subspace preserving (SP) CPMs, subspace local channels, and gluing of CPMs, are introduced. 2. 2. Dynamics of Quantum Correlations with Photons : Experiments on bound entanglement and contextuality for application in quantum information

    Författare :Elias Amselem; Mohamed Bourennane; Antonio Acín; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum information; quantum optics; foundations of quantum mechanics; entanglement; non-contextuality; Kochen-Specker theorem; parametric down-conversion; quantum state engineering; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The rapidly developing interdisciplinary field of quantum information, which merges quantum and information science, studies non-classical aspects of quantum systems. These studies are motivated by the promise that the non-classicality can be used to solve tasks more efficiently than classical methods would allow. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical Quantum Dynamics

    Författare :Emil Kieri; Sverker Holmgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : We consider computational methods for simulating the dynamics of molecular systems governed by the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Solving the Schrödinger equation numerically poses a challenge due to its often highly oscillatory solutions, and to the exponential growth of work and memory with the number of particles in the system. 4. 4. Quantum Dynamics of Molecular Systems and Guided Matter Waves

    Författare :Mauritz Andersson; Tamar Seideman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quantum chemistry; quantum dynamics; femtosecond spectroscopy; photoelectron spectroscopy; resonances; nonadiabatic interaction; coherent state representation; adaptive numerical method; Kvantkemi; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi; Quantum Chemistry; kvantkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Quantum dynamics is the study of time-dependent phenomena in fundamental processes of atomic and molecular systems. This thesis focuses on systems where nature reveals its quantum aspect; e.g. in vibrational resonance structures, in wave packet revivals and in matter wave interferometry. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Quantum Resources for Efficient Excitation Energy Transfer in Natural and Artificial Pigment-Protein Molecular Aggregates

    Författare :Charlotta Bengtson; Erik Sjöqvist; Susana Huelga; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Quantum coherence; quantum correlations; quantum nonlocality; open quantum systems; non-Markovian dynamics; Kemi med inriktning mot kvantkemi; Chemistry with specialization in Quantum Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Recently, long-lasting quantum effects in a number of photosynthetic complexes, which are pigment-protein molecular aggregates (PPMAs), were experimentally verified. These findings created an interest in trying to connect the known highly efficient excitation energy transfer (EET) in these systems to the existence of quantum effects such as quantum coherence and quantum correlations.
