  1. 1. Brain processing of experimental muscle pain and its interrelation with proprioception and muscle fatigue : positron emission tomography study

    Författare :Alexander Korotkov; Docent Tomas Graven-Nielsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Experimental muscle pain; Hypertonic saline; Kinesthesia; Proprioception; Movement; Vibration; Muscle fatigue; Brain; Imaging; Positron emission tomography; Regional cerebral blood flow;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic muscle pain is a significant medical and social problem and better understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms involved is an important requirement for further development of diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation methods. Experimental imaging studies have investigated functional neuroanatomy of different pain components. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A clinical positron emission tomography facility : 2-¹⁸FDG studies : development and results

    Författare :Tomas G Ohlsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; head and neck cancer; monitoring therapy effect; quantification; normalization; 511 keV SPECT; rotating PET scanner; 2-[18-F]FDG; isotope production; 18-F; PET; positron emission tomography; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Ohlsson;

    Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a tracer technique used for quantitative in vivo studies of physiological and biochemical processes. Because of the use of positron-emitting radionuclides such as 11-C, 13-N, 15-O and 18-F, which are isotopes of the biologically ubiquitous elements, it is possible to label radiopharmaceuticals which trace biochemical processes precisely. 3. 3. Search for Biomarkers in ALS and Parkinson's Disease : Positron Emission Tomography and Cerebrospinal Fluid Studies

    Författare :Anders Johansson; Håkan Askmark; Lennart Persson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; ALS; Parkinson’s disease; cerebrospinal fluid; positron emission tomography; vascular endothelial growth factor; fibroblast growth factor 2; proteomics; Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry; deprenyl-D2; PIB; FDG; L-[β11C]-DOPA; Neurology; Neurologi; Neurology; neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : New biomarkers are needed to improve knowledge about pathophysiology, in order to provide earlier correct diagnosis and to follow disease progression of the neurodegenerative diseases amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson's disease (PD). The aim of this thesis was to find new biomarkers for these diseases. LÄS MER
