  1. 6. Polyethylene Blends, a Material Concept for Future HVDC-cable Insulation

    Författare :Mattias Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polymer blends; nanocomposites; polyethylene; conductivity; thermomechanical properties; High-voltage insulation; tie-chain;

    Sammanfattning : High-voltage cables are a critical component of tomorrow’s power grids that seamlessly integrate hydro, wind and solar power. Further improvements in transmission capacity of both high-voltage alternating- and direct-current, HVAC and HVDC, cables are likely reached through improved insulation materials. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Polymeric materials in nuclear power plants : Lifetime prediction, condition monitoring and simulation of ageing

    Författare :Erik Linde; Ulf Gedde; Mikael Hedenqvist; Sue Burnay; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Nuclear power plants generate a significant part of the world’s electrical power consumption. However, many plants are nearing the end of their designed lifetime, and to extend the lifetime it is important to verify that every component can withstand the added service time. This includes polymeric materials, which become brittle with time. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Electrical Charges on Polymeric Insulator Surfaces and their Impact on Flashover Performance

    Författare :Sarath Kumara; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; streamer criterion; polymeric insulation; flashover voltage; surface potential; bulk conductivity; surface conduction; humidity; bulk neutralization; charge decay; Surface charge; silicone rubber; corona charging; gas neutralization;

    Sammanfattning : Utilization of remotely located sustainable energy resources such as solar, wind and hydro calls for further developments of long-distance electric power transmissions operating at ultra-high voltage (UHV) levels which may exceed 1000 kV ac and 800 kV dc utilized today. It is foreseen that insulation of such transmission systems is to be based on polymeric materials that can provide a number of technical benefits over traditionally used glass and porcelain based insulation.
