1. Design, Simulation and Characterization of Some Planar Lightwave Circuits
Sammanfattning : Optical devices based on planar lightwave circuit (PLC) technology have the advantages of small size, high reliability, possibility for large scale production, and potential integration with electronics. These devices are widely employed in optical telecommunications, sensing, data storage, imaging, and signal processing. LÄS MER
2. Silicon-based Photonic Devices : Design, Fabrication and Characterization
Sammanfattning : The field of Information and Communication Technologies is witnessing a development speed unprecedented in history. Moore’s law proves that the processor speed and memory size are roughly doubling each 18 months, which is expected to continue in the next decade. LÄS MER
3. Design, Fabrication, and Characterization of Nano-Photonic Components Based on Silicon and Plasmonic Material
Sammanfattning : Size reduction is a key issue in the development of contemporary integrated photonics. This thesis is mainly devoted to study some integrated photonic components in sub-wavelength or nanometric scales, both theoretically and experimentally. LÄS MER
4. Technology for photonic components in silica/silicon material structure
Sammanfattning : The main objectives of this thesis were to develop a lowtemperature PECVD process suitable for optoelectronicintegration, and to optimize silica glass composition forUV-induced modifications of a refractive index in PECVDfabricated planar devices. The most important achievement isthe successful development of a low temperature silicadeposition, which for the first time makes it is possible tofabricate good quality low loss integrated components whilekeeping the temperature below 250oC during the entirefabrication process. 5. Light manipulation in micro and nano photonic materials and structures
Sammanfattning : Light manipulation is an important method to enhance the light-matter interactions in micro and nano photonic materials and structures by generating usefulelectric field components and increasing time and pathways of light propagationthrough the micro and nano materials and structures. For example, quantum wellinfrared photodetector (QWIP) cannot absorb normal incident radiation so thatthe generation of an electric field component which is parallel to the original incident direction is a necessity for the function of QWIP.
