While genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic laboratory tools for molecular diagnosis of disease are rapidly becoming more comprehensive, the access to such advanced yet often expensive and centralized procedures is limited.     Sammanfattning : The genus Pestivirus comprises four recognised species: Bovine viral diarrhoea virus 1 (BVDV-1), Bovine viral diarrhoea virus 2 (BVDV-2), Border disease virus (BDV), and Classical swine fever virus (CSFV); and a tentative species, Pestivirus of giraffe. Recently, additional pestiviruses have been identified and presumed as novel subgroups/species based on single gene analyses that reveal different relationships among pestiviruses, depending on the genetic regions being analysed and the methods used.     Sammanfattning : Congenital tremor (CT) and splay leg (SL) are diseases regularly seen in new-born piglets in Sweden. They are diagnosed based on the clinical picture, which in CT are tremor and sometimes ataxia, and in SL, a lack of adduction of the hind legs. The cause of the clinical signs is unknown, but impaired nerve function due to myelin damage is a theory. LÄS MER
