  1. 1. Transitional design histories

    Författare :Maria Göransdotter; Johan Redström; Kjetil Fallan; Molly Wright Steenson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; design; design research; design theory; design history; history of design; industrial design; participatory design; co-design; user-centered design; Scandinavian design; Swedish design; history of ideas; design; designforskning; designteori; designhistoria; industridesign; deltagande design; samskapande; användarcentrerad design; skandinavisk design; svensk design; folkhemmet; idéhistoria; design; design; industrial design; industridesign; idé- och lärdomshistoria; History Of Sciences and Ideas; History; historia;

    Sammanfattning : Design practices are to a large degree conceptually and methodologically based in ways of designing rooted in the 20th century. Some of the challenges that arise in contemporary design stem from an unawareness of design’s historicity, and the discrepancies between what design methods and concepts once were made to handle, and what we presently try to apply them to. 2. 2. Researching IoT through Design : An Inquiry into Being-At-Home

    Författare :Anuradha Reddy; Maria Hellström; Per Linde; Jonas Löwgren; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Interaction Design; Internet of Things; Participation; Design Ethics; Home; Interaktionsdesign; Interaktionsdesign;

    Sammanfattning : Researching IoT through Design is a proposal for reworking how one might approach ubiquitous networked objects, or IoT, that no longer have stable and predictable uses – and to be-at-home with them in everyday life. This inquiry into being-at-home entails a shift from the idea of the home as a fixed, four-walled space for everyday routine separate from the outside world. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Living the Change : Designerly modes of real-life experimentation

    Författare :Martin Sjöman; Sara Ilstedt; Susanne Nilsson; Dan Lockton; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; design methods; transition design; participatory design; living labs; experimentation; sustainability; Art; Technology and Design; Konst; teknik och design; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : The sustainability transitions required to address the climate crisis cannot be achieved by technology alone; radical lifestyle changes are needed. To contribute to meeting this critical challenge, design must move its focus from individual needs, desires, and behaviors to the level of the complex socio-technical systems that shape our society. 4. 4. Critical indirectness as a design approach in participatory practice: Spatialities of multivocal estrangement in three engagements with public cultural institutions around participatory projects in Gothenburg

    Författare :Jonathan Geib; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; indirectness; multivocal design approach; design; participation; multivocality; transdisciplinary architectural research; critical spatial practice; spatiality; estrangement; design approach;

    Sammanfattning : Contributing across the domains of open transdisciplinary inquiry and transdisciplinary- and practice-oriented architectural and urbanism research engaging critically with participation in urban contexts, this research proposes critical indirectness as a multivocal design approach in participatory practice, developed through conceptual-analytical inquiry into three cases involving engagements between external art and design practitioners and public cultural institutions around participatory projects in Gothenburg. It joins with calls for art and design practitioners' greater engagement with public sector institutions as way of working towards a more durable and wider impact, with calls to model a more de-centered 'urban-combinatory' practice on the plurality, hybridity, discontinuities, and contingencies of the contemporary city, and with calls for more multiple, contradictory approaches. 5. 5. Human Centred Design for Maritime Safety: A User Perspective on the Benefits and Success Factors of User Participation in the Design of Ships and Ship Systems

    Författare :Nicole Almeida Costa; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; domain knowledge; co-design; design decisions; participatory design; maritime safety.; sociotechnical systems; integration; participatory ergonomics; user centred design;

    Sammanfattning : For over six decades, Human Centred Design (HCD) has been considered a desired design approach for the implementation of Human Factors/Ergonomics (HF/E) knowledge and methods for understanding the needs of the end-users. Although other comparable frameworks exist, they can be seen as subcategories or as tools for HCD, as HCD is considered by some as an overarching approach. LÄS MER
