1. Paramagnetic relaxation reagents : nuclear magnetic resonance studies of preferential solvation
Sammanfattning : The interactions between neutral paramagnetic relaxation reagents (PARR's) and certain aromatic compounds have been studied by 1H and 13 C spin-lattice relaxation time measurements. In media such as cyclohexane and carbon tetrachloride, Cr(acac)3 becomes preferentially solvated by aromatic solutes. LÄS MER
2. Zero-Field Splitting in Gd(III) complexes : Towards a molecular understanding of paramagnetic relaxation
Sammanfattning : The prime objectives of contrast agents in Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) is to accelerate the relaxation rate of the solvent water protons in the surrounding tissue. Paramagnetic relaxation originates from dipole-dipole interactions between the nuclear spins and the fluctuating magnetic field induced by unpaired electrons. LÄS MER
3. Probing Dynamics of Oligosaccharides by Interference Phenomena in NMR Relaxation
Sammanfattning : Oligosaccharides (carbohydrates) are a large class of biological molecules that are important as energy sources in the human body and have enormously varied biological functions. It is generally believed that biological activities of carbohydrates are related to their internal dynamics. LÄS MER
4. The paramagnetic Meissner effect
Sammanfattning : The low field dynamics of some high temperature superconductors have been studied experimentally, using SQUID magnetometry. The research has been focused on the so called Paramagnetic Meissner Effect (PME), a phenomenon seen in some high temperature superconducting cuprates. LÄS MER
5. Water Relaxation Processes as Seen by NMR Spectroscopy Using MD and BD Simulations
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes water proton and deuterium relaxation processes, as seen by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, using Brownian Dynamics (BD) or Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. The MD simulations reveal new detailed information about the dynamics and order of water molecules outside of a lipid bilayer. LÄS MER
