  1. 1. Catalytic Upgrading of Waste Oils to Advanced Biofuels – Deactivation and Kinetic Modelling Study

    Författare :Prakhar Arora; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stearic acid; TEM; Advanced biofuels; NiMo; Catalytic HDO; MoS2; Kinetic modelling; Oleic acid; Hydrodeoxygenation;

    Sammanfattning : The demand for liquid hydrocarbons as transportation fuels is enormous and ever growing. Advanced biofuels is one of the promising solutions to keep pace with the global transition to cleaner energy by reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Lipid Self-Assembly and Lipase Action

    Författare :Johanna Borné; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; specific activity.; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; vesicles; cubosomes; liquid crystalline phases; sodium oleate; oleic acid; diolein; monoolein; Oleic acid based acyl glycerols; Thermomyces lanuginosa lipase;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the action of the Thermomyces lanuginosa lipase (TLL) on "real" substrates, that is, lipid aggregates - vesicles, micelles, emulsions, gels and liquid crystals is discussed. Even for a pure triolein, the system becomes quite complex as the lipolytic process starts, both in terms of structure and composition, involving 5 additional components - diolein (DO), monoolein (MO), oleic acid (OA), sodium oleate (NaO) and glycerol . 3. 3. Lipid Composition and Deterioration in Light and Dark Muscle of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

    Författare :Torbjörn Ingemansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Docosahexaenoic acid; lipid classes; fatty acids; muscle lipids; Palmitic acid; trout; differences; lipids; fish;

    Sammanfattning : Nutritionally valuable lipids, including lipid classes and their fatty acids in light and dark muscle, have been determined and analyzed in farmed rainbow trout. Dark muscle was found to have a higher content of total lipids than light muscle, 7.3 wt% versus 3.0 wt%, which was mostly accounted for by neutral lipids, especially triacylglycerols. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Protein Complexity via Non-Native States: Binding, Stability, and Structural Studies of Calbindin D9k and HAMLET (Human alpha-lactalbumin Made LEthal to Tumor cells)

    Författare :Jonas Fast; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; apoptosis; oleic acid; HAMLET; kinetic trap alpha-lactalbumin; calbindin; calcium; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : Using optical spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and differential scanning Calorimetry (DSC), I have studied two different calcium binding proteins that can form kinetically trapped altered states. Calcium is very important in numerous biological processes such as blood coagulation, signal transduction, muscle contraction and bone formation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Inhaled Nitric Oxide Therapy : Non-response and Rebound Response

    Författare :Luni Chen; Eddie Weitzberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anaesthesiology and intensive care; nitric oxide inhalation; rebound response; non-response; endothelin-1; COX inhibitor; prostaglandin; ARDS; endotoxin; oleic acid; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Therapeutic inhaled nitric oxide (INO) has proved beneficial in patients with pulmonary hypertension. However, around 30-40% of the patients are non-responders to this therapy, and a life-threatening rebound response may occur during attempts to withdraw INO. LÄS MER
