1. Wave Energy Converters : An experimental approach to onshore testing, deployments and offshore monitoring
Sammanfattning : The wave energy converter (WEC) concept developed at Uppsala University consists of a point absorbing buoy, directly connected to a permanent magnet linear generator. Since 2006, over a dozen full scale WECs have been deployed at the Lysekil Research Site, on the west coast of Sweden. LÄS MER
2. Ocean Wave Energy : Underwater Substation System for Wave Energy Converters
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with a system for operation of directly driven offshore wave energy converters. The work that has been carried out includes laboratory testing of a permanent magnet linear generator, wave energy converter mechanical design and offshore testing, and finally design, implementation, and offshore testing of an underwater collector substation. 3. Application of the SASW-technique in geotechnical in-situ testing
Sammanfattning : With the main aim to test the applicability of the surface wave seismic technique Spectral Analysis of Surface Waves (SASW), used for determination of the shear stiffness (shear modulus - Gmax), four areas of applications have been studied. The four areas have been sites with natural geological conditions, sites where non destructive testing is necessary, pavement testing and multichannel testing. LÄS MER
4. Wave Energy Conversion : Linear Synchronous Permanent Magnet Generator
Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the electric aspects of a linear synchronous permanent magnet generator. The generator is designed for use in a wave energy converter, which determines the fundamental requirements of the generator. The electromagnetic properties of the generator are investigated with a finite element based simulation tool. LÄS MER
5. A numerical model to simulate short-term beach and dune evolution
Sammanfattning : Sediment transport in the cross-shore (CS) and associated changes in the beach profile, especially during storms, have been topics of widespread concern. Since storms are often accompanied by high water levels and large waves, large quantities of sand from the beach and the dune are typically transported offshore, leading to severe beach and dune erosion, which threatens the integrity of buildings and infrastructure near the coast.
