1. Enzyme-Based Amperometric Biosensors in Flow-Systems for Biomolecule Detection
Sammanfattning : Amperometric enzyme based biosensors were designed, developed and characterised in flow systems. Solid graphite and carbon paste electrodes were used as support for enzyme immobilisation. Both mediated and direct electron transfers between redox enzymes and electrodes were utilised for biosensor construction, as well as coupled enzyme systems. LÄS MER
2. A Resource for Quantum Computation
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we address the question, what is the resource, or property, that enables the advantage of quantum computers? The theory of quantum computers dates back to the eighties, so one would think there already is an answer to this question. There are several proposed solutions, but to this date, there is no consensus on an answer. LÄS MER
3. On the Power of Quantum Computation: Oracles
Sammanfattning : Quantum computation solve some computational problems faster than the best-known alternative in classical computation. The evidence for this consists of examples where a quantum algorithm outperforms the best-known classical algorithm. LÄS MER
4. Molecular Studies of Diamond-Blackfan Anemia and Congenital Nail Dysplasia
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effect of genetic mutations on the pathophysiology of two human disorders: Diamond-Blackfan Anemia (DBA) and isolated congenital nail dysplasia. The first part of this thesis (Paper I-III) investigates the mechanism associated with DBA. LÄS MER
5. Positional Cloning of Disease Causing Genes : A Genetic Study of Obesity, Ichthyosis Prematurity Syndrome and Meniere's Disease
Sammanfattning : Positional cloning is a method to identify genes from their position in the genome without prior knowledge about function. We used this approach to investigate the basis for three distinct genetic disorders; Obesity, Ichthyosis Prematurity Syndrome and Meniere's disease. LÄS MER
