  1. 1. Nasal Drug Delivery : In Vitro Studies on Factors Influencing Permeability and Implications on Absorption

    Författare :Cecilia Wadell; Frans Merkus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics;

    Sammanfattning : Nasal delivery is a feasible alternative to oral or parenteral administration for some drugs because of the high permeability of the nasal epithelium, rapid drug absorption across this membrane and avoidance of hepatic first-pass metabolism. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate factors influencing the permeability of the nasal mucosa to various compounds and to evaluate implications for drug absorption via the nasal route. 2. 2. Topical formulations, design and drug delivery : "A dive into water"

    Författare :Abdullah Ali; Marie Lodén; Anan Yagmur; Anders Hall; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; water; topical formulations; Pickering emulsion; skin cream; drug delivery; tactile friction; sensory panel; nasal; buccal; mucosa; skin; triglycerides; ethanol; drug transport; cosmetic appeal;

    Sammanfattning : Water is a vital component regulating the properties of topical formulations and their interaction with biological barriers, such as skin and mucosa. Changing the watercontent within the frame of the pharmaceutical triangle will have a huge impact on which type of formulation, such as a cream, ointment, gel, or lotion, is formed, as well as the physical properties of the formulation. 3. 3. Studies on a Novel Powder Formulation for Nasal Drug Delivery

    Författare :Nelly Fransén; Erik Björk; Katarina Edsman; Lars Hovgaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nasal drug delivery; nasal powder spray; interactive mixture; mucoadhesion; sodium starch glycolate; superdisintegrant; bioavailability; clinical trial; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Nasal administration has potential for the treatment of indications requiring a fast onset of effect or for drugs with low oral bioavailability. Liquid nasal sprays are relatively common, but can be associated with suboptimal absorption from the nasal cavity; this thesis shows that nasal absorption can be significantly enhanced with a dry powder formulation. 4. 4. Olfactory Transfer of Analgesic Drugs After Nasal Administration

    Författare :Ulrika Espefält Westin; Erik Björk; Eva Brittebo; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Paolo Colombo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmaceutics; Nasal administration; Olfactory transfer; Olfactory pathways; Central nervous system; Blood-brain barrier; Nasal respiratory mucosa; Olfactory mucosa; Olfactory bulb; Horizontal Ussing chamber; Morphine; Dihydroergotamine; Rat; Mouse; Swine; Autoradiography; Viability; Powder formulations; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Nasal administration of analgesics for achieving rapid pain relief is currently a topic of great interest. The blood-brain barrier (BBB) restricts access to the central nervous system (CNS) for several central-acting drugs, such as morphine and dihydroergotamine, which results in a substantial effect delay. 5. 5. Polymer Gels as Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms : Rheological Performance and Physicochemical Interactions at the Gel-Mucus Interface for Formulations Intended for Mucosal Drug Delivery

    Författare :Helene Hägerström; Katarina Edsman; Arne Brodin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutics; gel; rheology; mucoadhesion; mucosal drug delivery; in situ gel; gellan gum; Carbopol; tensile strength; nasal mucosa; intranasal administration; dielectric spectroscopy; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Galenisk farmaci;

    Sammanfattning : Drug delivery to the nasal and ocular mucosa faces several obstacles. One of these is from the effective clearance mechanisms present in the nose and eye. Polymer gels with suitable rheological properties can facilitate the absorption of poorly absorbed drugs by increasing the contact time of the drug with the mucosa. LÄS MER
