1. Fabrication and characterization of single luminescing quantum dots from 1D silicon nanostructures
Sammanfattning : Silicon as a mono-crystalline bulk semiconductor is today the predominant material in many integrated electronic and photovoltaic applications. This has not been the case in lighting technology, since due to its indirect bandgap nature bulk silicon is an inherently poor light emitter. LÄS MER
2. Quantum Chemical Modeling of Dye-Sensitized Titanium Dioxide : Ruthenium Polypyridyl and Perylene Dyes, TiO2 Nanoparticles, and Their Interfaces
Sammanfattning : Quantum chemical calculations have been used to model dye-sensitized nanostructured titanium dioxide systems that can be used in solar cells for solar energy to electricity conversion. Structural, electronic and spectral properties of isolated dyes and both bare and dye-sensitized TiO2 have been calculated with density functional theory, providing detailed information about both the separate parts and the dye-TiO2 interface. 3. Understanding and manipulating primary cell walls in plant cell suspension cultures
Sammanfattning : The cell wall is required for many aspects of plant function and development. It is also an accessible and renewable resource utilized both in unrefined forms and as raw material for further development. Increased knowledge regarding cell wall structure and components will contribute to better utilization of plants and the resources they provide. LÄS MER
4. Exploring the nonlinear rheological behavior and optical properties of cellulose nanocrystal suspensions
Sammanfattning : Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), with their versatile properties, offer immense potential in a range of applications, whether used independently or as sustainable reinforcements in polymers. They also find utility as renewable rheology modifiers in industries such as cosmetics, paints, and foods, where precise control over rheological characteristics is crucial for factors like product stability, prevention of splattering, and efficient processing and transportation. 5. Synthesis and properties of single luminescent silicon quantum dots
Sammanfattning : Silicon is an ubiquitous electronic material and the discovery of strong room temperature luminescence from porous Si in 1990 raised hopes it may find a new lease of life in the emerging field of optoelectronics. First, the luminescence was shown to be emitted from nanostructures remained in a porous Si network. LÄS MER
