2. Nurturing a heritage language : Language-centered practices in mother-child interactions in multilingual families
Sammanfattning : Situated within research on language socialization and family language policy, this thesis explores how young children (2–4 years old) learn their heritage language in multilingual, transnational families, and how multilingualism becomes an integral part of family life. It draws on video-ethnographic fieldwork in three bi/multilingual families in Sweden with preschool-aged children where the mothers speak Russian and the parents aspire to raise children multilingually. 3. A new look at parenting during adolescence : reciprocal interactions in everyday life
Sammanfattning : In this dissertation I pose the question: Under what conditions are parent-child relationships linked to good, or bad, adolescent adjustment and under what conditions are they not? Study I focused on subjects with multiproblematic adjustment. It was proposed that multiproblematic adjustment in adolescence (as well as in late childhood and early adulthood) has to be seen in terms of individual and family characteristics early in life. 4. Postpartum depressive symptoms in a family perspective : some indicators, experiences and consequences
Sammanfattning : Aim: The aim of this thesis was to examine the 1) consequences of maternal depressive symptoms 2-3 months postpartum on parents experiences of parenthood at one year and on parent-child interactions15-18 months postpartum, and the 2) circumstances in the early postpartum, which might predict depressive symptoms 2 months postpartum. Method: A community sample of 574 women was screened for depressive symptoms, using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) two months postpartum. LÄS MER
5. Long-term effects of mother-infant psychoanalysis
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a long-term follow-up study of mothers and infants with “baby worries” or mother-infant relational disturbances, who took part in a Randomized Controlled Trial when the children were, on average, five months of age. In that study, mother-infant psychoanalysis (MIP) yielded, compared with routine care (CHCC; Child health centre care), effects on maternal depression, mother-infant relationships, maternal sensitivity, and, on a marginally significant level, maternal stress.
