  1. 1. Stability and sorption capacity of montmorillonite colloids : Investigation of size fractional differences and effects of γ-irradiation

    Författare :Karin Norrfors; Susanna Wold; Daniel Kaplan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; montmorillonite; colloids; size effect; γ-irradiation; sorption; colloid stability; radionuclides; montmorillonit; kolloider; storlekseffekt; γ-bestrålning; sorption; kollodial stabilitet; radionuklider; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Bentonite clay is intended to form one of the barriers in most repositories of spent nuclear fuel located in granite. One important function of the bentonite barrier is to retard transport of radionuclides in the event of waste canister failure. Bentonite has a high sorption capacity of cations and its main constituent is montmorillonite. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Rigid PVC Nanocomposites - Influence of Processing and Montmorillonite Treatment

    Författare :Karin Sterky; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; non-ionic; processing; PVC; interaction; nanocomposite; montmorillonite;

    Sammanfattning : Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) is a material extensively used in various applications due to its lowcost, durability, and chemical resistance. There are, however, still improvements that can bemade to the material. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Plasticized PVC Nanocomposites - The Effect of Montmorillonite Treatment and Processing Conditions on Material Properties

    Författare :Henrik Petersen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, bio-nanocomposites made from two alternative biopolymers and montmorillonite (Mnt) clay have been investigated by molecular modelling. These biopolymers are xyloglucan (XG) and chitosan (CHS), both of which are abundant, renewable, and cost-effective. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Bentonite Barrier - Swelling Properties, Redox Chemistry and Mineral Evolution

    Författare :Daniel Svensson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
