  1. 1. Lipoprotein lipase-unstable on purpose?

    Författare :Liyan Zhang; Gunilla Olivecrona; Cecilia Holm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biochemistry; Lipoprotein lipase; Apolipoprotein CII; dimerization; monomerization; Molecular chaperones; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is a central enzyme in lipid metabolism. It is a non-covalent, homodimeric and N-glycosylated protein, which is regulated in a tissue-specific manner and is dependent on an activator protein, apolipoprotein CII. Dissociation of active LPL dimers to monomers leads to loss of activity. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Computational Studies of UV-B Induced Signalling Pathways in Plants

    Författare :Min Wu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computational Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract This thesis presents theoretical studies of UV-B induced signaling pathways in plants using molecular dynamic methods combined with (TD)-DFT calculations. Ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation is a component of sunlight covering wavelengths 280-300nm. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Exploring nanosystems for biomedical applications focusing on photodynamic therapy and drug delivery

    Författare :Vladimir Kirejev; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photodynamic therapy; PDT enhancement; Nitric oxide; NO-based PDT; Targeted drug delivery; Galectin-3; mTHPP; Cyclodextrin; CD-mTHPP conjugate; PpIX AuNP combination; Two-photon microscopy; FLIM; Cell phototoxicity; Ex vivo skin;

    Sammanfattning : The increasing incidences of cancer and related deaths call for the development of new and improved treatment modalities. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) today is an alternative to conventional treatments, but has limitations. This thesis explores different nanosystems with aim to improve PDT focusing on spectroscopic and ex vivo studies. LÄS MER

  4. 4. In vivo functions of mammalian glutaredoxin 2

    Författare :Maria Lönn; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Oxygen is essential for all respirating life forms. However, the use of molecular oxygen as terminal electron acceptor of the respiratory electron chain leads to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) as product of incomplete oxygen reduction. To different extends, ROS can react with and damage DNA, lipids and proteins. LÄS MER
