  1. 1. Studies on the Molecular Biology of the Mouse Pneumotropic Polyomavirus

    Författare :Shouting Zhang; Kristina Dörries; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; murine pneumotropic virus; Kilham mouse polyomavirus; large T antigen; enhancer; regulatory region rearrangement; gene expression regulation; DNA replication; transposable elements; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The Murine Pneumotropic Virus (MPtV), in contrast to the other MurinePolyomavirus (MPyV), appears to be non-tumourigenic in its natural host. Instead, MPtV causes acute pneumonia and can serve as a model in studies of polyomavirus-induced disease. In initial experiments, MPtV large T-antigen (LT) was expressed in a heterologous system. 2. 2. The molecular chaperone CCT: Functions beyond folding

    Författare :Josefine Vallin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TRiC; Chaperonin; CCT oligomer; CCT monomer; cancer; p150Glued; gelsolin; STAT3;

    Sammanfattning : The chaperonin-containing tailless complex polypeptide 1 (CCT) is a eukaryotic ~1 MDa barrel shaped molecular chaperone, built up by eight distinct subunits and is required for the folding of the abundant cytoskeletal proteins actin and tubulin. CCT exists as an assembled oligomer, micro-complexes and as individual subunits in the cell. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mapping the Rickettsia prowazekii genome

    Författare :Alireza Zomorodipour; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Rickettsia prowazekii is a member of alpha proteobacteria and the etiologic agent of epidemictyphus. Besides its pathogenicity as an obligate intracellular parasite it has been considered as amodel organism in a variety of studies.We have established a collection of overlapping clones, covering nearly the complete R.prowazekii genome. 4. 4. Chromatin Dynamics in the Fission Yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe

    Författare :Carolina Kristell; Pernilla Bjerling; Per Sunnerhagen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chromatin; Gene induction; Silencing; Subnuclear localization; Stress; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : In the eukaryotic cell nucleus, spatial organization and dynamics of the genome is important in the regulation of gene expression. This thesis describes the use of the fission yeast, Schizosaccharomyces pombe, to study chromatin regulation and dynamics. We used nitrogen starvation to induce transcription of genes in fission yeast cells. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; acetaldehyde; carbon dioxide; xenon; electron correlation; double ionisation; triple ionisation; core-valence ionisation; site-specific Auger decay; multiple Auger decay; branching ratios; site-specific photodissociation; molecular rearrangement; time-of-flight multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy; synchrotron radiation; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, multiple ionisation processes of free atoms and molecules upon single photon absorption are studied by means of a versatile multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy method based on a magnetic bottle, primarily in combination with synchrotron radiation. The latter offered the possibility to access not only valence but also core levels, revealing processes, which promote the target systems into different charge states. LÄS MER
