  1. 1. Steel-to-timber dowel joints : Influence of moisture induced stresses

    Författare :Johan Sjödin; Hans Petersson; Carl-Johan Johansson; Per-Johan Gustavsson; Växjö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; constraint stresses; contact-free measurement; dowel-type joints; humidity variations; moisture-induced deformations; timber structures; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Joints are critical parts of timber structures, transmitting static and dynamic forces between structural members. The ultimate behavior of a loaded building depends strongly on the structural configuration and the capacity of the joints. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour

    Författare :Sara Florisson; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Johan Vessby; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; analytical method; calibration; controlled climate; creep; distortion; experimental methodology; FEM; fibre orientation; mechano-sorption; moisture transport; natural climate; Norway spruce; numerical model; three-dimensional; timber beam; validation; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 3. 3. Rendered rainscreen walls - cavity ventilation, ventilation drying and moisture-induced cladding deformation

    Författare :Jörgen Falk; Avdelningen för Byggnadsmaterial; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past five years, moisture damages in external walls of wood frame structure and rendering on insulation as a cladding has been a widely debated subject which has received a lot of attention. In the light of this, the interest in an alternative construction method where rendering is applied on boards instead of insulation has increased. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hygro-Elastic Deformation of High Pressure Laminates. A Macroscopic Analysis. Theoretical Modelling and Measurements

    Författare :Bijan Adl-Zarrabi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; numerical simulation; expansion; elastic deformation; moisture transport; orthotropic; high pressure laminate;

    Sammanfattning : Deformation due to environmental changes in moisture arises in many engineering problems of practical interest. The purpose of this work is to develop a theoretical model for the determination of moisture induced deformations in thin plates made of High Pressure Laminates. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Numerical Analysis of Moisture-Related Distortion in Sawn Timber

    Författare :Sigurdur Ormarsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer simulations; Deformation; Wood; Moisture; Drying; Finite element method; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : A 3D theory for the numerical simulation of deformations and stresses in wood during moisture variation is described. The constitutive model employed assumes the total strain rate to be the sum of the elastic strain rate, the moisture-induced strain rate, the mechano-sorption strain rate and the creep strain rate.
