  1. 11. The Microcirculation in Trauma and Sepsis

    Författare :Peter Bansch; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microcirculation; prostacyclin; plasma vilume; trauma; sepsis; sidestream darkfield imaging; albumin; volume expansion; transcapillary escape rate; glycocalyx; charge;

    Sammanfattning : The microcirculation plays a vital part for fluid-, gas- and solute-exchange, and changes in permeability during trauma or sepsis, that are in part necessary for the natural healing process, may also cause hypovolemia and edema formation, leading to disturbances in microvascular exchange. This thesis discusses changes is microvascular flow, permeability and plasma volume (PV) loss after experimental or surgical trauma and experimental sepsis. LÄS MER

  2. 12. BMP treatment for improving tendon repair. Studies on rat and rabbit Achilles tendons

    Författare :Carina Forslund; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; traumatologi; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; ortopedi; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : We wanted to improve tendon healing by adding a growth factor. Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) are well known to stimulate bone healing and bone formation. The local environment is of major importance for cell differentiation after a BMP has been added. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Percutaneous Nephrostomies : Planning for an Optimal Access, Complications, Follow-up and Outcome

    Författare :Eva Radecka; Anders Magnusson; Marianne Brehmer; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Percutaneous nephrostomy; Percutaneious nephrolithotripsy; Complications; Puncture technique; CT guidance; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Sammanfattning : Percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) is a well-established intervention performed to divert urine from the collecting system in ureteric obstruction or as a prelude to interventional procedures such as stent placement or percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL). The aim of this thesis is to enhance planning for an optimal insertion of PCN, investigate complications, long-term management, follow-up and outcome in patients with PCN treatment and to increase accuracy in CT-guided punctures. 4. 14. The Diabetic Foot. Costs, health economic aspects, prevention and quality of life

    Författare :Gunnel Ragnarson Tennvall; Socialepidemiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Social medicine; wound healing; treatment outcome; risk factors; prevention and control; amputation; cost and cost analysis; Socialmedicin; samhällsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aims were to investigate the economic consequences of foot complications in diabetic patients, to measure the influence of diabetic foot complications on health-related quality of life (HRQL), and to analyse the cost-effectiveness of interventions to prevent foot ulcers and lower extremity amputations (LEA). The economic consequences of foot ulcers and LEA are large both in a short and a longer perspective. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Outcome of Ischaemic Foot Ulcers in Patients with Diabetes, with or without Revascularization

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the studies presented in this thesis was to study patients with diabetes and severe peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in regard to outcomes of foot ulcers, factors related to outcomes, and occurrences of new ulcerations and amputations following healing of the initial ulcer. Patients with diabetes and a foot ulcer, consecutively presenting at a multidisciplinary foot centre, with a systolic toe pressure . LÄS MER
