  1. 1. Mechanics and Growth of Articular Cartilage Around a Localized Metal Implant

    Författare :Krishnagoud Manda; Anders Eriksson; Nico Verdonschot; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; finite element analysis; articular cartilage defects; growth; knee; focal knee resurfacing; metal implant; poroelastic; porohyperelastic; biphasic;

    Sammanfattning : Articular cartilage is a specialized connective soft tissue that resides on the ends of long-bones, and transfers the load smoothly between the bones in diarthrodial joints by providing almost frictionless, wear resistant sliding surfaces during joint articulation. Focal chondral or osteochondral defects in articular cartilage are common and show limited capacity for biological repair. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Metal artifacts in computed tomography : impact of reduction methods on image quality and radiotherapy treatment planning

    Författare :Karin Andersson; Per Thunberg; Eva Norrman; Jan Persliden; Anders Tingberg; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; computed tomography; metal artifacts; image quality; visual grading analysis; radiotherapy; proton therapy; hip prosthesis; dental implants;

    Sammanfattning : Degradation of image quality by metal artifacts is a common problem in computed tomography (CT) imaging, which can limit the diagnostic value of a CT examination and also introduce inaccuracies in radiotherapy (RT) treatment planning. In recent years, commercial metal artifact reduction (MAR) methods have been launched by several CT vendors. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Finite Element Simulations of Biphasic Articular Cartilages With Localized Metal Implants

    Sammanfattning : Nedbrytbara metaller utgör en ny klass av biomaterial med potential attersätta permanenta material i tillfälliga applikationer. Detta för att minskarisken för långvariga biverkningar. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Osteocytes as indicators of bone quality - multiscale structure-composition characterisation of the bone-implant interface

    Författare :Furqan A. Shah; Göteborgs universitet; []
