  1. 1. Metabolic Risk Factors and Molecular Subtypes of Colorectal Cancer

    Författare :Robin Myte; Bethany van Guelpen; Richard Palmqvist; Jenny Häggström; Matty Weijenberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Colorectal cancer; risk factors; metabolic syndrome; one-carbon metabolism; molecular subtypes; KRAS; BRAF; MSI; molecular pathological epidemiology; Cancer Epidemiology; cancerepidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a heterogeneous disease developing from distinct pathways, resulting in tumor subtypes with large differences in clinical and molecular characteristics. Molecular characteristics are increasingly being used clinically to guide therapy. LÄS MER

    Författare :Christel Häggström; Pär Stattin; Håkan Jonsson; Tanja Stocks; Bas Bueno de Mesquita; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cohort study; competing risk; epidemiology; metabolic factors; prostate cancer; kidney cancer; bladder cancer; renal cell carcinoma; survival analysis; Epidemiology; epidemiologi; Urology; kirurgi; särskilt urologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Sweden with around 10,000 new cases every year. Kidney and bladder cancer are less common with 1,000 and 2,000 new cases annually, respectively. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Metabolic factors and cancer risk : prospective studies on prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and cancer overall

    Författare :Tanja Stocks; Pär Stattin; Håkan Jonsson; Annie Lukanova; Jaap Seidell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi; epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: A large number of prospective studies have shown that overweight and diabetes are related to an increased risk of many cancers, including colorectal cancer. In contrast, diabetes has been related to a decreased risk of prostate cancer, and overweight has been related to an increased risk of fatal, but not of incident, prostate cancer. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Intermittent Claudication : Prevalence and metabolic risk factors

    Författare :Jørgen Mølgaard; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : The prevalence of intermittent claudication (IC) in middle-aged men (45-69 years old) and metabolic risk factors for this disease was studied in a Swedish community. All 15 253 middle-aged male residents in Linköping community, were screened for symptoms of IC using a postal questionnaire, which included detailed questions about smoking habits and presence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus. 5. 5. Blood pressure, blood pressure development and potential risk factors for hypertension with special reference to metabolic factors and kidney function

    Författare :Karl Kristjansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hypertension; blood pressure; women; epidemiology; weight change; metabolic factors; insulin; glucose tolerance; albuminuria; proteinuria; risk factors.;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives: The overall aim of this thesis was to search for predictors of blood pressure development with special reference to anthropometric, metabolic and renal function variables.Study populations and methods: Two large long-term prospective population studies, The Population Study of Women in Gothenburg, Sweden carried out since 1968-69, with 1462 women between 38 and 60 years old at baseline and 24 year follow-up, and The Reykjavik Study, Iceland, which started in 1967 with an initial participation of 8285 men and 9183 women in various age groups.
