  1. 1. Studies of Material Properties using Ab Initio and Classical Molecular Dynamics

    Författare :Love Koči; Börje Johansson; Rajeev Ahuja; Dario Alfè; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Atomic and molecular physics; molecular dynamics; phase transitions; melting; elasticity; equation of state; metals; rare gases; Atom- och molekylfysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, material properties have been examined under extreme conditions in computer-based calculations.The research on iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), and ferropericlase (Mg1-xFexO) are not only important for our understanding of the Earth, but also for an improved knowledge of these materials per se. 2. 2. Inclusion Motion under a Swirl Flow in the Continuous Casting Process and Wire Feeding in the Induction Furnace

    Författare :Ying Yang; Pär Jönsson; Seppo Louhenkilpi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion motion; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry nozzle; mold; wire feeding; melting behavior; FeSiRE particle powder motion; induction furnace;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis includes the studies of two phenomena related to continuous casting. One subject is the inclusion motion in the submerged entry nozzle (SEN) and mold when using a swirl flow. The swirl flow is generated in a SEN by using an electromagnetic swirl flow generator (EMSFG). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Electron beam melting of Alloy 718 : Influence of process parameters on the microstructure

    Författare :Paria Karimi Neghlani; Joel Andersson; Per Nylén; Joakim Ålgårdh; Högskolan Väst; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; Powder bed fusion; Electron beam melting; Part’s orientation; Microstructure development; Single track; Energy input; Focus offset; Geometrical features; Alloy 718; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM) is the name given to the technology of building 3D parts by adding layer-by-layer of materials, including metals, plastics, concrete, etc. Of the different types of AM techniques, electron beam melting (EBM), as a powder bed fusion technology, has been used in this study. 4. 4. Process Development for Electron Beam Melting of 316LN Stainless Steel

    Författare :Stefan Roos; Lars-Erik Rännar; Andrei Koptioug; Jonas Danvind; Lars Pejryd; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; additive manufacturing; beam deflection rate; electron beam melting; energy input; material properties; microstructure; powder bed fusion; process parameters; 316LN stainless steel;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM) is a technology that inverts the procedure of traditional machining. Instead of starting with a billet of material and removing unwanted parts, the AM manufacturing process starts with an empty workspace and proceeds to fill this workspace with material where it is desired, often in a layer-by-layer fashion. 5. 5. Sedimentology and Geomorphology of Glacial Landforms in Southern Sweden : Studying the Landscape of a Melting Ice Sheet

    Författare :Gustaf Peterson Becher; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Glacial geology; Geomorphology; Sedimentology; Glaciology; Tunnel-valley; Glaciofluvial meltwater corridor; Murtoo; Småland;

    Sammanfattning : Ice sheets are disintegrating due to global warming. One factor controlling ice-sheet behavior is the processes active beneath the ice sheet. In particular, processes connected to glacial meltwater drainage are essential to understand ice-sheets behavior in a warming climate. LÄS MER
