16. Mechanical Pulp-Based Nanocellulose : Processing and applications relating to paper and paperboard, composite films, and foams
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with processing of nanocellulose originating from pulps, with focus on mechanical pulp fibres and fines fractions. The nanocellulose materials produced within this research project were tested for different purposes ranging from strength additives in paper and paperboard products, via composite films to foam materials. 17. Mechanical Properties of Arteries : Identification and Application
Sammanfattning : In this Licentiate of Engineering thesis, a method is proposed that identifies the mechanical properties of arteries in vivo. The mechanical properties of an artery are linked to the development of cardiovascular diseases. LÄS MER
18. Spark Ignition Combustion of Direct Injected Alternative Fuels
Sammanfattning : Several technologies and modifications exist to increase the fuel efficiency of passenger vehicles in general and spark ignition engines in particular. Combining a spark ignition engine with an electric drive system in hybrid powertrain and thermodynamic cycle improvements are two such approaches with the potential to greatly reduce fuel consumption. 19. Validation of models for welding and post weld heat treatment in product development of aerospace components
Sammanfattning : It is important to control key dimensions in aero engine components during manufacture. This is achieved by finding a stable process-parameter window for each manufacturing operation and to choose an order of manufacture, which gives an adequate result. Production planning has traditionally been carried out from experience and experiments. LÄS MER
20. Reduction of refining energy during mechanical pulping : using pressurised chip compression and sulphite pre-treatment
Sammanfattning : The effects of pressurised compressive chip pre-treatment and low dosage sulphite pre-treatment were evaluated for production of thermomechanical pulp in mill scale trials using Norway spruce (Picea abies) at the Braviken paper mill (Holmen Paper AB, Sweden). The general aim of the study was to improve the energy efficiency during the production of mechanical pulps suitable for news and improved news grade papers. LÄS MER
