  1. 1. Studies on chondrocyte integrins and mechanical signaling

    Författare :Karin Holmvall; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; teratology; Development biology; collagen; mechnaical stimulation; cartilage; development; chondrocyte; integrin; ontogeny; embryology human ; Utvecklingsbiologi; teratologi; embryologi människa ;

    Sammanfattning : Integrins are a family of cell surface receptors known to bind matrix proteins and to mediate signals such as mechanical signals between the cell and the surrounding matrix. We have studied integrins that are expressed by chondrocytes, with specific focus on the integrins that interact with the cartilage matrix protein collagen type II. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies on various culture systems for chondrocytes and osteoblasts

    Författare :Juha Prittinen; Mikko Lammi; Minna Kellomäki; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; chondrocyte; osteoarthritis; surface materials; topography; tissue engineering; mechanical stimulation; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Osteoarthritis and osteochondral defects are ailments that are increasing in frequency as the lifespan of the population increases and sedentary lifestyle becomes more common. Osteoarthritis is an inflammatory disease that causes the progressive degeneration of articular surfaces and the underlying bone. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Influence of neuromodulators and mechanical loading on pathological cell and tissue characteristics in tendinosis

    Författare :Gloria Fong; Patrik Danielson; Alex Scott; Ludvig Backman; Paul Ackermann; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; substance P; acetylcholine; transforming growth factor; neuromodulators; mechanical loading; tendinosis; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tendinosis is a painful chronic, degenerative condition characterized by objective changes in the tissue structure of a tendon. Hallmark features in tendinosis tendons include increased number of cells (hypercellularity), extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation and disorganized collagen. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Tendon Healing : Mechanical Loading, Microdamage and Gene Expression

    Författare :Malin Hammerman; Per Aspenberg; Pernilla Eliasson; Ludvig Backman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Mechanical loading and the inflammatory response during tendon healing might be important for the healing process. Mechanical loading can improve the healing tendon but the mechanism is not fully understood. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanics and Growth of Articular Cartilage Around a Localized Metal Implant

    Författare :Krishnagoud Manda; Anders Eriksson; Nico Verdonschot; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; finite element analysis; articular cartilage defects; growth; knee; focal knee resurfacing; metal implant; poroelastic; porohyperelastic; biphasic;

    Sammanfattning : Articular cartilage is a specialized connective soft tissue that resides on the ends of long-bones, and transfers the load smoothly between the bones in diarthrodial joints by providing almost frictionless, wear resistant sliding surfaces during joint articulation. Focal chondral or osteochondral defects in articular cartilage are common and show limited capacity for biological repair. LÄS MER
