  1. 1. The influence of multiscale hyporheic flow on solute transport : Implications for stream restoration enhancing nitrogen removal

    Författare :Ida Morén; Anders Wörman; Joakim Riml; Roy Haggerty; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hyporheic exchange flow; Hydrological modeling; Solute transport; Stream restoration; Nitrogen; Power spectral analysis; Hydraulic and Hydrologic Engineering; Hydraulik och teknisk hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Stream water that flows into and out of streambeds is called hyporheic exchange flow (HEF).It continuously interacts with groundwater and thereby affect the water quality of local streamreaches as well as downstream recipients by providing an environment where solutes andenergy can be retained and degraded. 2. 2. Towards specific quantification of exosomes using surface-based sensing

    Författare :Deborah Rupert; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; label-free; surface plasmon resonance.; exosome; binding rate; antibody; concentration; nanoparticle tracking analysis; quantification; liposome; cluster of differentiation 63 CD63 ; diffusion; specific detection; mass transport limited conditions; extracellular vesicles; surface-based biosensor;

    Sammanfattning : When exosomes were first observed in 1967, they were believed to be cell debris until extensive studies demonstrated key biological functionalities related to their composition and formation mechanism. Exosomes are nanometer-sized lipid vesicles of endocytic origin, with a membrane consisting of lipids and proteins and encapsulating a cargo composed of soluble proteins and genetic material. 3. 3. HNO3-Induced Atmospheric Corrosion of Copper, Zinc and Carbon Steel

    Författare :Farid Samie; Christofer Leygraf; Carlos Arroyave; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nitric acid; deposition velocity; mass transport; air velocity; relative humidity; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The role of nitric acid (HNO3) on the atmospheric corrosion of metals has so far received little or no attention. However, the last decades of decreasing sulphur dioxide (SO2) levels and unchanged HNO3 levels in many industrialized countries have resulted in an increased interest in possible HNO3-induced atmospheric corrosion effects. 4. 4. Aspects of Efficient Parameter Estimation for Diesel Oxidation Catalysts

    Författare :Björn Lundberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MVDA; Mass Transport Modeling; Engine Test Bench; Design of Experiments; Kinetic modeling; DOC; Full Scale; Parameter Estimation; Exhaust Aftertreatment Modeling;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the objective was to tune the model parameters of diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC) to measurement data from engine rig experiments in an efficient manner. The scope was however not limited to the algorithm of parameter search alone but instead included the whole process starting with the design of experiments. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Numerical simulation of multi-scale transport processes and reactions in pem fuel cells using two-phase models

    Författare :Munir Khan; Jinliang Yuan; Bengt Sundén; Värmeöverföring; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; numerical analysis; multi-scale; multi-phase; reacting flows; multi-component;

    Sammanfattning : A numerical study for the cathode of a PEM fuel cell has been performed in this study. The results have been limited to cathode only because, in PEM fuel cells, the oxygen reduction reactions, ORRs, are considered the rate limiting reactions and govern the fuel cell performance. LÄS MER
