  1. 1. Mammalian brain acetylcholinesterase : a study of its solubilization, purification, molecular state and interactions with cholinergic ligands including an endogenous modulator

    Författare :Bertil Niklasson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Affinity chromatography; caudate nucleus; acetylcholinesterase; tetracaine; décaméthonium; d-tubocurarine; edrophonium; fluoride ion; hysteric properties; endogenous ligands to AChE;

    Sammanfattning : Membrane bound AChE from calf brain caudate nucleus was solubilized by use of ion-free media in presence of 10~ M EDTA and 10“5M tetracaine. The irreversible release of AChE was more effectively inhibited by divalent ions compared to monovalent ions added to the medium. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Factors regulating transcription and translation of the mammalian mitochondrial genome

  3. 3. Regulation of site-selective A-to-I RNA editing : During mammalian brain development

    Författare :Helene Wahlstedt; Marie Öhman; Mary O'connell; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; RNA editering; ADAR; brain development; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Adenosine (A) to inosine (I) RNA editing is a widespread post-transcriptional mechanism in mammals that contributes to increase the protein diversity. Adenosine deaminases that act on RNA (ADARs) are the enzymes catalyzing RNA editing. ADARs are particularly active within the brain where they act on transcripts involved in neurotransmission. 4. 4. Selenium in mammalian thioredoxin reductase

    Författare :Liangwei Zhong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) is a major enzyme in regulating intracellular redox status. The enzyme from several mammalian tissues has been purified, showing higher molecular weight and a much broader substrate specificity than E. coli TrxR, but the structural basis of these properties remained unknown. 5. 5. Mitotic aberrations in mammalian cells

    Författare :Anna Renglin Lindh; Thomas Helleday; Micheline Kirsch-Volders; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aneuploidy; mitotic aberrations; chemical effects; human cancer; DNA repair; Genetics; Genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Almost all cancer cells are aneuploid showing the wrong chromosome number and often with structural aberrations. The degree of aneuploidy correlates with an increase of the severity of the disease and tumour cells with chromosomal instability are more prone to acquire resistance to chemotherapy than other cells.
