  1. 1. NHBD Lung Transplantation

    Författare :Per Wierup; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Surgery; rat; pig; edema formation; lung preservation; bronchial healing; gas exchange; lung evaluation; Lung transplantation; non-heart-beating donor NHBD ;

    Sammanfattning : The waiting list for lung transplantations world-wide is steadily growing. So, the use of lungs from non-heart-beating donors (NHBD) needs to be addressed. Hence, the aim of this thesis was to evaluate, in realistic animal models, the new donor organ concept: NHBD transplantation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Intestinal effects of lung recruitment maneuvers

    Författare :Jonas Claesson; Ola Winsö; Stefan Lehtipalo; Conny Arnerlöv; Björn Biber; Göran Hedenstierna; Petter Aadahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acute lung injury; oleic acid lung injury; ischemia; reperfusion injury; swine; mechanical ventilation; lung recruitment; splanchnic circulation; laser Doppler flowmetry; tissue oxygen tension; microdialysis; lactate; glycerol; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Lung recruitment maneuvers (brief episodes of high airway pressure) are a modern treatment alternative to achieve open lung conditions under mechanical ventilation of patients with acute lung injury. It is well known that positive pressure ventilation with high airway pressures cause negative circulatory effects, and that the effects on regional vascular beds can be even more pronounced than the systemic effects. 3. 3. The Effect of CO2-Pneumoperitoneum on Ventilation Perfusion Distribution of the Lung

    Författare :Christof Strang; Göran Hedenstierna; Suzanne Odeberg-Wernerman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :lung; atelectasis; computed tomography; multiple inert gas elimination technique; model; pig; Pa–ECO2 ratio; surgery; laparoscopy; lung; blood flow; single photon emission computed tomography; ventilation perfusion distribution; gas exchange; hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Laparoscopic operations are a common and popular way for abdominal procedures. They are usually performed by insufflation of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the abdominal cavity. However, insufflation of CO2 may interfere with cardiac and circulatory as well as respiratory functions. The CO2-pneumoperitoneum (PP) may cause hypercarbia and acidosis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Lung function after cardiac surgery : With special reference to atelectasis and ventilation-perfusion relationships

    Författare :Arne Tenling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Cardiac surgery; thoracic epidural analgesia; vital capacity manoeuvre; computed tomography; ventilation-perfusion relationships; gas exchange; atelectasis; respiratory inductive plethysmography; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Patients undergoing cardiac surgery were investigated before and after the operation.Ventilation-perfusion (VA/Q) relationships were examined by the multiple inert gas elimination method, and atelectasis and aeration of the lungs were examined by computedtomography (CT). 5. 5. Pathophysiological and Histomorphological Effects of One-Lung Ventilation in the Porcine Lung

    Författare :Alf Kozian; Göran Hedenstierna; Thomas Hachenberg; Filip Freden; Sten Walther; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Alveolar Recruitment Manoeuvre; One-Lung Ventilation; Lung Protective Ventilation; Tidal Volume; Computed Tomography; Tidal Recruitment; Animal Model; Open Thoracic Surgery; Ventilation Perfusion Distribution; Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography; Diffuse Alveolar Damage; Medical laboratory science; Medicinsk laboratorievetenskap; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : Thoracic surgical procedures require partial or complete airway separation and the opportunity to exclude one lung from ventilation (one-lung ventilation, OLV). OLV is commonly associated with profound pathophysiological changes that may affect the postoperative outcome. LÄS MER
