  1. 1. Genetic and environmental factors influencing the risk and course of eating disorders

    Författare :Jet Dieuke Termorshuizen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Eating disorders are debilitating conditions characterized by dysregulated eating and/or weight-control behaviors leading to significant impairment of psychosocial functioning and/or physical health. Both environmental factors and variation in multiple genetic variants of small to moderate effect influence eating disorder etiology and maintenance. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Global Climatology and Regional Modeling of Coastal Low-Level Jets

    Författare :Muhammad Raza Ranjha; Michael Tjernström; Gunilla Svensson; Branko Grisogono; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coastal low-level jets; climatology; regional modeling; boundary layer; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Localized coast-parallel wind-speed maxima at low altitude, known as coastal low-level jets (CLLJs) have important ramifications to the coastal climate and a number of human activities. This thesis documents the existence of the CLLJs around the globe including their mesoscale structure, dynamics and spatio-temporal variability. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mesoscale dynamics and boundary-layer structure in topographically forced low-level jets

    Författare :Stefan Söderberg; Michael Tjernström; Branko Grisogono; Douw G. Steyn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; low-level jets; boundary layer; turbulence structure; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Two types of mesoscale wind-speed jet and their effects on boundary-layer structure were studied. The first is a coastal jet off the northern California coast, and the second is a katabatic jet over Vatnajökull, Iceland. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Study of gas fuel jet burning in low oxygen content and high temperature oxidizer

    Författare :Magnus Mörtberg; Wlodek Blasiak; David G. Lilley; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; combustion; entrainment; jet in crossflow; PIV; ICCD; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : During the past decade, new advanced combustion systems that share the same basic concept of using a substantially diluted and high-temperature oxidizer in the reaction volume have gained a great deal of interest regarding their application in industrial and power systems. These novel combustion technologies have proved to offer significant benefits compared to traditional combustion techniques. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes various aspects of the development of a multi-disciplinary aero engine conceptual design tool, TERA2020 (Techno-economic, Environmental and Risk Assessment for 2020), based on an explicit algorithm that considers: engine performance, engine aerodynamic and mechanical design, aircraft design and performance, emissions prediction and environmental impact, engine and airframe noise, and production, maintenance and direct operating costs.As part of this research effort, a newly-derived semi-empirical NOx correlation for modern rich-burn single-annular combustors is proposed.
