  1. 1. Aging Along the Hippocampal Axis : Structure, Function and Whole-brain Connections in Association with Memory

    Författare :Kristin Nordin; Hedvig Söderlund; Agneta Herlitz; Jessica Damoiseaux; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; hippocampus; aging; longitudinal-axis; episodic memory; spatial memory; connectivity; fMRI; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hippocampus-dependent functions display marked reductions in older age, an observation that has led to the extensive study of age effects on hippocampal properties. Even though research indicates that the hippocampus is structurally and functionally heterogeneous along its longitudinal axis, its anterior and posterior regions differentially supporting episodic and spatial memory representations, few studies explicitly consider age effects in relation to axis. 2. 2. Measurements of physical workload with special reference to energy expenditure and work postures

    Författare :Eva Bernmark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Exposure assessment;

    Sammanfattning : Background: There is a need in preventive ergonomics for accurate and valid methods of quantifying exposure to physical workload. Aims: Two technical instruments were evaluated for quantifying occupational physical workloads: 1) A heart rate (HR) monitor system to measure energy expenditure and 2) An inclinometer system based on triaxial accelerometers to measure work postures. 3. 3. The GLAST Satellite Calorimeter

    Författare :Georg Johansson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GLAST; CsI Tl crystals; electromagnetic calorimeter; hodoscopic assembly; satellite-born detector; Dark Matter; cosmic gamma radiation;

    Sammanfattning : The Gamma Ray Large Area Space Telescope (GLAST) is a multi-national satellite mission with aim to study the high-energy gamma ray sky. The main instrument is the Large Area Telescope (LAT) that consists of 16 towers, each housing a silicon strip precision tracker and a CsI(Tl) calorimeter. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Persistent geotropic nystagmus : a different kind of cupula pathology

    Författare :Tatjana Tomanovic; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In patients with positional vertigo a persistent positional direction-changing nystagmus (PDCN) of apogeotropic direction (a-PDCN) in the supine yaw plane has been described earlier 1-5. It has been suggested that the cupula in the lateral semicircular canal has a higher specific weight than the surrounding endolymph making the cupula sensitive to gravity. LÄS MER
