1. Transport Coefficients during Drying of Solids containing Multicomponent Mixtures
Sammanfattning : This study investigated the transport coefficients involved in mass and heat transfer during the drying of a porous solid partially saturated with multicomponent mixtures. It included the coefficients governing liquid transport through the solid, the matrix of multicomponent diffusion coefficients in the liquid phase, and the effective thermal conductivity. LÄS MER
2. Devlopment and relaxation of orientation in liquid crystalline polymers : transport properties of liquid crystalline polymer blends
Sammanfattning : In this thesis different types of liquid crystallinepolymers have been investigated with respect to build up andrelaxation of orientation. The potential of making new barriermaterials using liquid crystalline polymer blends was alsostudied. LÄS MER
3. An Experimental and Theoretical Study of the Mass Transport in Lithium-Ion Battery Electrolytes
Sammanfattning : Lithium‐ion batteries are particularly suitable as energy storage solutions in high power applications, such as hybrid electric vehicles. It is generally considered that one of the processes that limit the power density for lithium‐ion batteries is the mass transport in the electrolyte. LÄS MER
4. Microstructure and liquid mass transport control in nanocomposite materials
Sammanfattning : Some of the biggest problems currently facing the world are closely tied to unsolved technological challenges in the material sciences. Many materials have a porous microstructure that controls their overall properties. LÄS MER
5. Linear and Nonlinear Transport in Quantum Nanostructures
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, electron transport in mesoscopic semiconductor nanostructures, in particular so-called electron billiards or quantum dots, is studied. The thesis can be divided into two areas: the linear response regime of transport, and the nonlinear response regime of transport. LÄS MER
