1. The Use of Lignin Derivatives to Improve Selected Paper Properties
2. Painting Treatments of Weather-Exposed Ferrous Heritage. Exploration of Oil Varnish Paints and Painting Skills
Sammanfattning : This thesis is about industrial heritage—the protection of ferrous heritage by using anticorrosive oil varnish paints. The purpose of this thesis in Kulturvård and craft research is to provide guidelines, tools, concepts, and models that may be used in anticorrosive oil varnish painting maintenance of ferrous heritage. 3. Exploring fatty acid derivatives from renewable resources as raw materials for coating applications
Sammanfattning : In the work presented herein, epoxy fatty acid derivatives were explored in the formation of thermosets for coating applications. The epoxy fatty acid derivatives were obtained from renewable resources such as birch tree bark and epoxidized linseed oil. LÄS MER
4. Chemical Interactions between Fatty Acids and Wood Components during Oxidation Processes
Sammanfattning : Fatty acids auto-oxidation on wood is proposed to follow a complex free radical interaction mechanism. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of wood constituents on oxidation of fatty acids and thereby the entire drying process, and to characterize the fatty acids-wood interaction by using analytical instruments such as RT-IR and NMR. 5. Effect of Wood Constituents Oxidation of Unsaturated Fatty Acids
Sammanfattning : This work presents the mechanisms of free radicals in a model system between fatty acids oxidation process and wood components. The aim is to create a better understanding of new environmentally friendly materials for exterior wood protection. LÄS MER
